BBQ'ing for 9 people on Sat on my lil Weber - other than batches of burgers and scossages is there anything else easy I can get away with - both on and off the barbie that'll go down a treat?

Cheers

Brisket or a lump of pork you can cook before and keep hot for hours just by wrapping it in foil and towels, then you can cook the traditional mystery meat. Corn on the cob goes down well.

Off the BBQ, baked potatoes, new pots par boiled then cooked over the bbq for a bit, celeriac coleslaw is awesome, knock up some proper rolls for the pulled pork and burgers, beef tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed olives.

Once you've finished with the bbq and everyone is eating cook some stilton stuffed apples or pears wrapped in foil on the bbq.

I'm now hungry

Celeriac remoulade/coleslaw is amazing as macca says - way better than the regular stuff (imo) :)

Rather than just baking the potatoes I quite like boiling new potatoes then slicing in half - add butter and some spices and then cook over a direct heat to char the outside. Pretty damn good.

Charred peppers and such are awesome too. Jalapeno poppers are quite easy. Just get some mild chillies, remove the insides and slice off the stalk, stuff with cream cheese and herbs (or rice and meat, or..whatever) and then cook indirect (or at the edges). They'll take about 15-20 minutes and be awesome.

Hit me up with your gluten, dairy, tomato and pepper free BBQ ideas.

I wanted to make ribs but sauces seem complicated.

Got a BBQ on Saturday so could prep on Friday.

In other news, I just smoked a whole chicken rubbed with paprika, garlic granules, onion granules, black pepper and salt. Had that chopped up on some wraps with home made scotch bonnet + mango salsa, sour cream, red pepper and spring onions. It was a little sweet but the mango really went well with the current summer weather.

That really sucks Glaucus :( In related news I'm trying out my slightly dodgy combination of chicken confit and jerk chicken. I should be able to report back today or tomorrow. I've got high hopes :p

Not sure if this will help you with that but this is an interesting link mixing grilling and sous vide jerk chicken.

You should try out this veggie burger option sometime and report back :) I've been meaning to give it a whirl for a while.

I made these last week and they were pretty damm good, they taste very meaty and the better half loved them; I did leave out the cashews but will try it with them in them next time and probably ramp up the spice level a bit.
