Why would they? Sainz locked up and steered to avoid Hamilton, which squeeze Piastri - both drivers retired.

Perez was ahead throughout the whole battle and therefore had track position. Perez retired and Hamilton didn’t. Penalty deserved.
So I ask you was the Ferrari under the full control of its driver at the time of the accident, the Ferrari had locked its tyres as clearly seen by the presence of blue smoke, the young driver Oscar Piastri did his utmost to avoid an accident.

Please do remind me what punishment was given to Romain Grosean in a similar but somewhat more dramatic accident?

4/10 at best.

Some decent overtakes but otherwise a total procession again for RB and Max.

Bored.... Unless RB breaks down, they could take 5 or 10 place penalties to the end of the season now, stick new parts on every race and still win all of them.

It's not even "close" at the front end these days.

Gaps at the end of the race - 22 seconds then another 10 seconds then another 17 second to 3rd place. Nearly a minute covering the first 3 places....

It's so boring at the moment. F1 keep trying all sorts to make it "look" interesting - Sprints/tyre selection qualifying etc - but nothing is working.

Been watching Nascar/Indycar & Aussie Supercars as at least it's decent close racing in those categories.

Hamilton was alongside and the corner was rightfully his. Someone even posted the FIAs own ruling which states the onus is on the car on the outside to avoid the collision.

Difficult to avoid the collision when the driver on the inside drives into the driver on the outside.

It’s like Alonso said, he only knows how to race from the front.

So neither sainz or piastri caused a collision?

Not according to the stewards.

Anyway you keep arguing as if the stewards are remotely consistent and apply the rules fairly. Which is an incorrect assumption.

No, I didn't say that. But they do so apply the rules after making their decisions. If a driver gets a penalty for causing a collision, they get penalty points. It's not a separate decision.

Sainz looked like he did to me. I'd need to see a few replays, but I think we've seen milder mistakes than Sainz's punished.
Maybe during the rest of the race, I don't think he (or others) did enough wrong to see the stewards intervene that early in a race.

As I said, we've seen them punish stuff like that before. I wouldn't be surprised if they let it go because Sainz wrecked his own car in the process.

Either way, it was a sad end to Piastri's weekend.

I predicted before the season began that Piastri would be regularly beating Norris by the end of the season. I think that's exactly what we're going to see. Norris is talented, but he isn't best-of-the-best talented.

Has he? Or has he been putting the 4th best car about where it should be, while his highly-rated teammate proved unable to adapt to the characteristics of the car and flattered Norris' performances as a result?

I'm not basing it on 1 good result. I'm basing it on watching him race in '20 and '21. True, he was lucky (or I guess more accurately Logan Sargeant was unlucky) to win F3, but his F2 title was well earned, and you don't get three consecutive championship victories for nothing. Of course, we've seen drivers before who impressed in Junior but couldn't cut it at F1 levels, but Piastri is already beginning to show that that's not the case with him. It's harder than ever for rookies in F1 with minimal testing, and shorter practice sessions but he's getting up to speed with impressive rapidity.

He is. I thought his career was over; now it looks like he's going to end the careers of De Vries and Tsunoda instead.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

. 1 good result from piastri and apparently he's a world beater. Norris beat Dr hands down embarrassingly so aswell. A true world beater needs to be able to adapt to the car aswell as being able to adapt the car to them.

Dr's latest results with the alpha tauri if they continue as per qualifying just means that tsunoda et al are worse drivers than DR.

Piastri is talented no doubt, but good results in lower formulas does not always translate to f1. Let's just watch this space and see what happens, I'm sure he will be a world beater in time,
