I'm absolutely convinced Charles went out of track limits on his hot lap at turn 11. I thought I saw it clear as day on the sky highlights.

To be honest, Lewis' position I think has flattered the car again somewhat here.
There are clear differences in how each of their cars are setup. Lewis's rear wing was smaller than George's is and from that it could be the former is setup for qualifying and the latter for the race.

I may be wrong but the rear wing on Lewis' car will make him fast in sectors 1 and 3 where all the overtaking usually happens. George will be quicker in sector 2 but how the two setups will look after tyres I am not sure.

I think it’s more skill and strategy than luck.

No. That was luck. Completely out of his hands and two drivers just didn't quite turn it on. Luck. Max has had loads this season. He is totally due some bad to be dished out. This will come across salty I know. Just saying facts though, he has barely had anything go against him so far in the grand scheme of things.

Will it be because he runs out of mana, or will it be a result of a spell from one of the other drivers.

Sometimes things do work out and favour some drivers over others, but he’s also driving on an entirely different level right now. I don’t see what luck has to do with any of that.

Nobody is saying he can't drive fast. He has the best overall package tailored to him right now and is at one with the car. He is also one of the quickest F1 drivers in the world. Still got lucky in Q2. :)

Did he though? Beaching his car in the pits, an engine fire and Massi each cost him three championships.

You can have both good and bad luck throughout your career :p

Also you could argue that 2021 wasn't bad luck, it was bad officiating/incompetence... calling it bad luck makes it seem less bad than it actually was !

He had poor luck in 2016 in terms of reliability but then it wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't had such a poor start to the season. Him slacking off at the end of 2015 and the start of 2016 let Rosberg gain confidence and have a decent stab at the championship. China 2007 was bad strategy, they left him out for too long and he had no tyres left. I totally get why these things can be viewed as bad luck but i tend to think of luck as being random things out of you and your teams control, like everyone else pitting for tyres and then all of a sudden a safety car comes out allowing you a free stop etc...

Hamilton benefited a lot from little things like that, mostly during the Bottas years. None of them really played any part in his championship wins but then Verstappen just squeezing into Q3 isn't critical to his championship either.

When you're in the fastest car you tend to have luck go your way more often than not. Hamilton and Vettel both had their fair share of luck when they were cruising to championships.

Lewis has had massive amounts of bad luck through his career.

I mean, just for starters he'd be 8 time world champion if the race director didn't decide to completely throw the rule book and all precedent out the window just to manipulate a totally imbalanced last lap showdown.

He's had some good yes, ofcourse. However I'd put him down as one of the more unlucky ones generally.

If you listened in on most sportsmen, like you can f1 drivers, I’m sure you’d get reactions like that in the heat of the moment. Everyone loves to hate max though(myself included)
