Just had the conference on and Toto went mental at someone lol. The question was about a black eye on the sport but it sounded like someone heckled him or something?

That was hilarious he really went for it :D tbh it's a bit embarressing how much they're saying everything is great and Toto stating that no-one will be talking about the manhole cover tomorrow is very naive of him people will be talking about this for weeks as usual in F1.

I mean, I know Las Vegas doesn't sleep or something, but - wow - F1 cars roaring through the city at 3.30am?

I guess they really want the drivers to get some practice, or let the fans who have paid thousands actually see some action. I'd probably be more inclined to the latter.

Plus it has to be wrapped up by 4am anyway, I've read that the Nevada Department of Transport gets the roads ready for reopening at that time.

Would underfloor lift that or has it been clouted by a plank or two?
depending on speed F1 cars could produce anywhere from 1000lbs up to about 4500lbs of downforce, i believe a lot of this would now be generated by the ground effect of the car so yes the lift from the underfloor would be the acting force on the concrete, the plank would wear before the concrete as its only wood imo.

Just watched that and Fred was barely holding it together. Understandably as Carlos could have been maimed or killed and 2/3 of his car is now scrap.

Those manhole covers will be designed for downward forces being applied to them, not a suction force. And given it was the concrete surround that failed, its not like they can just weld them shut to prevent it happening again. Not sure how they fix that tbh. Unless they fit a large plate over the hole and bolt it to the road but then thats just something bigger that can cause even more damage!

This race is just summing up the state of F1 now. Pile of embarrassing Americanised crap. It's been completey ruined. Last year was already the least amount of races I've watched since 2007, this year I've watched even less. Maybe 2 or 3 races. It was already bad enough that it's boring when max is guaranteed to win every race but everything else on top may have completely killed F1 to me.

Slight overreaction its a manhole cover, which will be addressed and the race will continue. It's not the first or the last time this will happen, not sure why people are so grumpy about it.
