Almost non-stop overtaking, Alonso and Russell having great drives, Hamilton fighting back at the end, fight between the Red Bulls.

Max wins - 1/10. Gotta love these forums.

Fight between the Red Bulls? You stretching one was obviously faster than add in new mediums

The overtakes didn't really excite me unfortunately

Most don't care about the midfield battles or everyone would have enjoyed half of the Merc era. We want to see the battles upfront with the most at stake. At least I got that in 2014/2016 and 2018 and 2021. And for the 1st few races of 2022 some amazing battles between Leclerc and Max.

Also when the midfield battles take place changes the perception of the quality of the race. If all of it happens as the race is ending it can turn a dull race into a spectacular one as unpredictability ensues. Once cars are already sat in position for 10-15 laps the excitement isn't the same for the average person watching at home. Different story in person.

Ah well I'll take the good with the bad.

Dull race overall. Some nice overtakes here and there but the overtakes that mattered were boring DRS drivebys.

Perez didn’t have an answer for Max which is disappointing but predictable. That said, it’s clear the Mediums were not a good tyre and particularly not for a first stint where they needed to be worked hard on a full fuel load to build a gap. I think that really hurt Perez’s race, but ultimately starting on hards wasn’t an option.

Max kept it clean, didn’t make unforced errors and did the business on the first stint to set him up for the long middle stint with clean air.

Most seem to only care about one thing. Lewis beating Max.

The race was the perfect summary of the due state of F1 today.....

Overtakes under DRS. Really, that's not exciting, it's just Mario Carts.

Best car wins. Yay, it's like playing Doom with God mode enabled.

Sigh.....

With the English Soccer ball finishing in the next few weeks usually I'd let the F1 carry me through the barren months.

But, this season I'm struggling to muster any excitement at all after only three races. Even screwing up qualifying and starting halfway down the grid didn't stop Max and his Red Bull. Hell, even his own team mate couldn't stop him. Sure, I don't like the guy, but I can see how good he is as a driver, even if his car is an absolute rocket ship in a field of still very fast cars.

It feels like the FIA took far too long, and shouldn't have negotiated with Red Bull at all when they got caught exceeding the Budget cap and any meaningful punishment Red Bull could have received is now, clearly and demonstrably, not worth the paper it was written on. Their car is so fast I wouldn't be surprised if they as good as have both titles wrapped up by the Summer break and they stop bringing updates and start working on next years car. Even though they have much more limited CPU, CFD and Wind Tunnel time it still feels like that because their current car is so good having circa 30% less time to spend on their car won't matter because it'll be another evolution rather than revolution and it'll be just as fast in comparison to everything else. Which again makes mockery of their cheating and punishment. It honestly feels like Cheats are flourishing and being allowed to in modern Sport. Man City have spent their way to the top and lawyered up and gotten away with it and now Red bull have had a pitifully soft slap on the wrist and have also gotten away with it.

Edit to add, I'm not criticising Red Bull directly, they've done a bang up job of the regulations and created something seconds faster than anything else on the grid. The FIA shouldn't step in to slow them down with rule changes, but they do need to be shown to be tough on cheating.

Oh come on, it was a £432,000 (0.37%) overspend on the allowed budget, or an even tinier proportion when you think how much teams actually spend each year running a team. Let's not over exaggerate a tiny overspend as the reason why Red Bull are so god damn good these last few years. They've absolutely nailed the car season after season and deserve their success. Don't blame Red Bull for their dominance this year, blame the other teams for being so far behind.

Not a classic race by any measure, but there was plenty of action down the field, and some individual standout performances. Most of the action, though, came between cars on different strategies and so once it became obvious the teams had underestimated the hard->medium strategy there wasn't much excitement in those moves. 5/10 for me.

Brilliant for Max and another bad day for the three rookies.

Why diddnt the fia just kept to the same cars and reg as pre 2021? We just had a epic close battle between two teams and now they have basically reset and made it a one team one driver show..

Overspend is an overspend doesn't matter if it is only 1p.

You say that is not much but it depends how it was used that small amount may have been used to generate multi millions.

Some rules need to be black & white.
