The media playing up Checo's chances of beating Max over the season if he wins tonight is going to be unbearable, isn't it?
I mean, they’re going to have to cling to something to provide some entertainment this season. Otherwise - as you can read in these threads - most people are done with it for this year and can’t be bothered watching!
Would make it interesting for a lap or two, along with any Max argy bargy moving through the field
What’s going to annoy us all is that most midfielders will just let him past, for fear of a shunt. It’ll be interesting when he gets to Russell but I’d imagine RB will have told him to wait for a straight and that’ll be that..
He’s having to drive a very twitchy car right on the edge every weekend and it seems to really step out when it lets go.
I still think these new regs are terrible. None of the drivers seem to enjoy driving the cars :o

It would be amusing to see MV really rage. With his attitude, it's quite possible he will make a mistake.

Hopefully ask the drivers don't just let him through. Even though I get why they do

Three of the most talented drivers all having a terrible qualy (Max, Charles and Lewis). Max and Charles getting greedy.

The Merc has such serious tyre warm up problems. Their first laps are always terrible. I guess that's why they are better in the race.

Still, makes the race potentially a good one with this grid.

I honestly don’t understand how he’s gotten as far as he has with his anger issues. Not as in “how do people put up with him” but as in “how has he not killed himself/someone driving like that with such a red mist”. Jeddah ‘21 for example.

I suspect they won’t have a choice when it comes to the straights. I reckon he’ll be behind Perez within 5 laps of DRS getting switched on. For that reason I hope Alonso doesn’t get fruity with Perez at the start - if he slows Perez down all we’re going to get is another Max win.

This is a big one for MVs mental state I think.

If he does cruise past perez it's going to silence the perez hype (I don't think perez has a shot at the WDC myself) and give MV the biggest arrogance boner.

However if he falls apart, makes a mistake could see a side of MV never fully seen before. And if his mental resolve is in any way weak.. Its where he could start to unravel.

As we are in for a dull season I do (perhaps it's evil) wish for the second. I want to see an implosion. At least it would make the season interesting

I'm going to predict that when the next rising star driver comes along, one that stands out head and shoulders above MV, that red bull will either drop him in favour of the newer driver. There's also the possibility that MV will cause a serious collision with said new star in order to end his/her career.

I honestly get the vibe that MV is heading for some form of homicidal breakdown, especially if he starts losing and worse to a team-mate.

Agreed. His temper seems to be worse than Shuey displayed in 1995 when he went after DC

Did you watch the end of the 2021 season? The guy completely lost it under the pressure from Hamilton. He was pulling all kinds of crazy ****.

Hamilton's Q2 was so weird. Almost everyone else seemed to improve by 4 tenths or more from Q1 but Lewis went backwards and set a slower time in Q2. Havent seen the lap so not sure if he made any obvious mistakes, or was what he said likely true (ie that the out lap was too slow due to traffic so tyres were **** from the start)?

I'm just hoping for more shenanigans between Russell and Max at the start tomorrow :D

He definitely started his final flying lap with only a few seconds spare and in traffic too - let's see what he can do in the race.

He (and the car) are normally better in the race, so i'm hopeful of possibly a top 6 finish still if he gets a bit of luck (ie 1 or 2 of the top runners retire).

Indeed. Now imagine what would happen if some new upstart comes in and starts undermining him!

I’d say the only way it could get worse was with a serious accident - but we had those in ‘21 what with him driving over Hamilton’s head - and Silverstone too.

On the flip side, if Perez stuffs this up then he’s going to struggle to make a real contest out of the championship. I do hope Alonso doesn’t wreck it for him somehow.

I think if Perez gets a good start he will sail off into the distance.

Great grid for the race today. Now just throw in some inclement weather to seal the deal.

Obviously not the first time Leclerc has run out of talent either in qualifying for in FP3 and compromised his qualifying.

Not sure what all talk is about Max and his anger or mental state. Seems like some of you didn't see/hear how calm he was losing to Perez last race. Short of an incident though, I can't see him not challenging for the win here though.

If there are no incidents i dont think he has much chance of a win. However fast that Red Bull with Max in it is, Perez is likely going to be a full pit stop ahead by the time Max reaches 2nd (except maybe if he gets some sort of insane start).

Probably end up being Perez, Max, Alonso podium if there are no dramas.

I was hearing he lost his temps just before getting his lap underway.
