Yeah, from the replays you can see it's a u shaped bracket that locates onto the beam on the rear of the car

I mentioned to my son during that stop the AM pit crew shouldn’t be touching car, and would likely get another penalty for that.
Low and behold - they did !

Shame for Alonso but it’s fair cop. However, I have no idea why this decision and penalty was not broadcast in the many, many laps following the pit stop. Coupled with the completely BS safety car call, I fear the stupid decision making of stewards has not been addressed. I suppose time will tell.

Agree with Alonso there, dishing out penalties on slam dunk yes/no calls like did they touch the car should have been done in the race not like 30+ laps later as he could have at least tried to pull the 10 seconds out.

Aston are saying the regulations say you cannot "work on the car".
They will perhaps try to argue that the car was not "lifted" so not worked on?
I can agree with Alonso's assessment that they needed to know if they were under investigation so they could react and manage the gap.

Stewards should have to make a ruling within say 5 laps unless there are mitigating circumstances.

Yes they should give out pens during the race if there is time to. Would make teams try and push to make up time or gain it. Might make the race more exciting too.

Just looked at the pit stop reply for Alonso . Yep Jack was definitely placed into position whilst serving 5 seconds stop/go . Let’s see what the stewards say. 5 sec ok 10 seconds not.

Alonso could maybe have had 2nd if he had no penalty and didn’t have to compete a whole lap due to grid position under the Saftey Car. Not a great Jeddah GP this year.

I presume one of the other teams noticed and raised it with the stewards late. Pity, Alonso should have been given the chance to build a gap. Still, clear cut failure from Aston and even more unforgivable given Ocon's fubar last week.
