"Explaining why no penalty was necessary for the Tsunoda incident, the stewards said Verstappen was not warned by his team that the Japanese racer was so close. As a result, Red Bull were slapped with a fine rather than the driver being punished."

Guess it's one rule for them and another for everyone else

Should have been at least one penalty imo, but whilst it does seem very pro-RBR, it's probably intentional to "create a good show". If they got hit with a penalty they may have just done a pitlane start to try and fix the car, but now he's mid of the field in a car that doesn't seem to be working well. If they think they could sort the car though I'd just take the pit lane anyway start since there is a high risk of a safety car or two and at least he might be able to push through.

Whilst I believe that Verstappen should have had a penalty for the Tsunoda incident I think it's worth quoting from the FIA statement.

'The Stewards reviewed a number of impeding and alleged impeding incident from this current season and consistent with previous decisions in relation to the severity of the breach, impose a penalty of a Reprimand on the driver and a fine on the Competitor.'

I don't know which other incidents we have for comparison where the driver escaped a grid penalty but at least we have some reasoning for it.

That is crazy. So basically just say your team never warned you and its all good going forwards?! lol

This idea of giving the team a fine is stupid beyond belief. For instance if a team now warns a driver, then he gets a grid drop, if the team doesn’t he won’t So the team has to stay quiet. The rule was brought in this way to make sure drivers were motivated to get out the way.
So if the driver needs an engine, fine the team, unsafe release fine the team.
They really are a bunch of incompetent clowns.

Red Bull has been fined €5,000, becoming the second team to receive that fine on Saturday as Williams has also been ordered to pay up over Logan Sargeant “clearly impeding” Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll – with Sargeant likewise escaping with just a reprimand due to the lack of a warning.

€5,000 is a round of drinks on a night out for these teams. Whether it's the team or driver at fault there should be way bigger consequences for it. It's potentially very dangerous and a €5,000 fine is laughable.
