I know its early but pressure must really be on Perez , lets see what the race pace brings :)
Red Bull always improve more than others when it comes to race pace. Surprised at the difference between Hamilton and Russell. Not sure what to make of that.

Lol alpine at the back. Front all looks fairly samey as last year.
Perez is gonna have to go. If this year is more competitive, hell cost RBR the WCC

I'm looking forward to seeing the race pace between Ferrari, Merc , Aston Martin and McLaren and see what Perez does

Meh, looks largely the same as last year.

Poor from Lewis. His qualy seemed all over the place. In q1 he looked slow , then in q2 he looked handily faster than George, and then he seemed slow in q3. One thing I noticed is that George improved loads on his lap during sector 3 and Lewis didn't.

Lewis has said he has opted for a kinder race setup. I hope that turns out to be true and quali was just a blip because George has shown the pace is there in the W15.

Lewis said;
“I definitely sacrificed [single lap pace], more then I had hoped to. I hope that it pays off tomorrow but we’ll see.”

“It’s a lot of work to do to get past all those quick cars ahead of me. But it’ll be fun!”

“Bono and everyone did a great job today. I was just struggling in qualifying. The whole day actually.”

“Yesterday was really good, George and I were on the same set ups, then he went left and I went right and I think right was definitely not good for a single lap. But I felt more comfortable with more fuel so I hope that reflects tomorrow.”

Otmar must be laughing all the way to the bank with his payout after the Renault performance so far! DTS didnt exactly put Bruno in the best of light.
Looks to be quite a close season, RB dont have quite the advantage they enjoyed last year in qualifying, Im looking forward to this race even if it turns out to be another Max whitewash, the race for 2nd should more than make up for it.

My thoughts exactly!

It would be nice if these threads lost some of the negativity of last year, there's plenty to like in the sport still even if the season does turn into a Max whitewash.

Lando might be quick but makes a lot of mistakes and usually at critical times, he can be fast when the pressures off but as soon as a good result is on the line he makes errors.
The closer you drive a car to the limit, the easier it is to go over it.

Leclerc is similar for Ferrari.

I think we can only really evaluate Alpine in 2025 - not enough time plus the end of the regs for a new TP to make any real difference.

That being said, Renault have been a joke for years now so it’s likely a systemic problem. I also don’t think Otmar was a good TP.

Well, one thing is for sure. They won’t have to worry about the track flooding with all the sandbags lying around! I reckon that Red Bull is still only at 85% of potential.

I’m sure Lewis didn’t want to drop back as far as he did but over the last couple of seasons he has often sacrificed quali pace to make sure his race pace is as good as possible. With how low the Mercs have been running at this track, I expect he is trying to avoid a repeat of the skid block issue from last season.

Let us not forget that Lewis comprehensively out scored George last season to take 3rd in the WDC, so I I'm not sure it would be wise to write him off on quali performance.

Looks like Albon is going to continue to out drive the Williams and McLaren are looking very racy too. Alonso showing once again that he is a premier league driver. Alonso in a Red Bull would be epic!

Leclerc did the fastest time in q2 so clearly didn't put it all together in q3. Looks like this could be a bit more interesting.

Faster than Max's pole time. I wonder how much of the difference in those laps was down to getting a tow or not; we saw Max get a tow from Piastri on his final lap, did Leclerc get one in Q2 to set that time?

I don’t believe so which makes it the more interesting. But let’s remember Leclerc has always been a great qualifier, yet Ferrari goes into reverse on race day.

Ferrari claim to have addressed their problems with tyres on long runs, and the data from testing seems to support that, so I'm hopeful they'll be better able to keep their pace up during the races this season.

My podium prediction: Max, Rus, Lec.
