That is correct, but there are different modes, called strats, that can be used in testing and practices.
But no party mode that can be used in qualification and occasionally in the races.
Yea, can definitely have multiple modes/strats, as long as they aren't exclusive to quali, etc.

Might be a little less of an issue with the current engines (except Alpine) as they seem pretty solid. Previously, Merc had a significant engine advantage.

And previously Power Unit Suppliers e.g. Merc were having specific maps only available to them and not to their customers.

Please start some racing so I can watch/read about something else, rather than the current stuff.

Motor racing, now please.

But there are still strat modes..

I thought strat modes were about energy deployment/recovery from the electric side of the drivetrain rather than a change in engine mapping for the ICE.

They do still have engine mode controls, as well, but they're not allowed to fiddle with them during the race other than to manage problems. In any case, my point above was that all the teams will be in the same position regarding engine wear, etc. so there's no reason for teams to be particularly nursing their engine in practice more than one another - unless, I suppose, they're particularly worried about the reliability/durability of their engines.

You may well be correct and I'm mixing them up. Strat modes are about controlling the ERS recovery and boost but then this will also control the performance over a single lap depending upon what mode the steering wheel switch is in..
Thus a car will be harvesting all the electrical energy for a warm up lap and then on a quali lap deploying it all. Some teams in practice 2 may not have been either fully harvesting before a timed lap or either fully deploying the ers whilst on one and, I guess, this is dependent upon the steering wheel switch setting.

With the current owners, and viewers they want. This will be the dream for them.
People are loving it too, so can't blame it going this way. Can't tear themselves away from the gossip.

I'm struggling to care about most of the teams this year. I think once the race starts, I'll get in to it, and find the spark for the year. I hope...
Seems more soulless than normal right now.

True, Americans do love drama.

Perez was leading until Max showed a fraction of his hand... How much more proof do you need of bags of sand?

Has Ocon got a problem? Only six laps in the session. (And, moments after I type that, he comes out on track - typical)
