Need to see all the yellow flag stuff again, it looked like a complete mess, surely Lando wasn't the only on not lifting there, it looked like there were people battling with DRS down in that area at a couple of points

Did Stella just basically say that they should look at the circumstances of the infringement instead of just the strict interpretation?

Should we ask Bianchi about slowing down under yellows?

A penalty is clearly correct, in that Lando has unarguably driven flat out past double waved yellows.

What's a bit daft is that double waved is 'be prepared to stop' and Max lifting was about half a second earlier than he would have lifted for the corner, from a safety perspective, it's hard to argue the way either driver went through that sector was 'safe' really, they both absolutely flew through the sector. I'm sure others behind probably did too, even if they also did a split second early lift.

And then the flags / warning levels changed without the hazard changing, just puts a cherry on top of the nonsense.

And then the safety car lights weren't working correctly on top of that

it was just mindblowing, they had FOUR laps deciding what to do about a large piece of debris on about the only part of the track people could try overtake on!

They should have made a decision on it in a lap or two tops.

A VSC would only have slowed the cars down whereas they needed to be bunched up and guided through the pit lane so a marshal could have retrieved the object. Only a full safety car could do that.
That decision was down to the race director and MBS has been busy sacking them all..

It would have created a sufficient gap for a marshall to run on, I think. The largest gap was a bit under 20s, VSC would have put that up to about 30s and stopped any overtaking. They needed about ten, I reckon, although obviously you need a solid safety margin.
