Indeed. It’s an embarrassingly awful track.

Apparently the guy with the Honda dealership was stewarding today.. so yeah.. that’s cool. Definitely absolutely no way nothing to do with the draconian penalties on Lando and Lewis
A drive through for a 12.5kph speeding offence in the pit lane and 10s stop/go for effectively ignoring double waved yellows are not draconian really are they?

They aren't the sort of thing we should be demanding lenient punishment for

You’re conveniently leaving out that Garry Connolly is also there.

12.5kph is like 7mph. Didnt they say his pit limiter didn’t work or something and he clearly slammed on the brakes when he realised (hence lando locking up behind)

When was the last time a 10sec stop and go was used? It seems draconian given the effect it had on Lando’s race.

The whole "you must lift" thing seems massively arbitrary from a safety perspective to be honest, especially in the context of the situation today.

I mean, they were all still bombing it at ~200mph down the straight where the dangerous object was...yet a slight lift at some point means all is ok and safe

It's very odd.

Especially when you see the data where Max lifts off by 11% of throttle for 0.9 seconds, he basically didn't slow down at all. But that lift was enough to acknowledge that he was following the rules. Can't really fault Max for playing the game here, but it's another rule that needs a proper clarification.

Nearer 8mph, over a 50mph limit. These people are top level professional drivers, 16% over the pit limit is just negligence and deserves punishment.

Last 10s stop go was for Lewis driving into a closed pit lane, I'd say probably on par with ignoring double waved yellows in terms of severity. Google suggests Kimi got a similar stop-go punishment for ignoring yellows a few years back too. Seems a fair enough punishment.

The fact that they took long enough to decide it, that a safety car was subsequently called and crammed the field up is frustrating but ultimately not much that you can do about those sorts of circumstances.

Exactly. It is just paying lip service to the rules.

A cool track to drive in terms of G force and high speed corners but it just never seems to present good racing. Overtaking is too hard other than the main straight, where they moved the DRS zone 170 metres shorter making it even harder. A track I wouldn't miss if it went.

Awful race on a track that’s on the calendar for the money, the stewards have been hit and miss all season but a stop go for Llando was laughable

History shows that it’s the standard penalty for ignoring yellows. Probably the only consistent thing from the stewards all weekend.

Couldn't watch because of time difference, but happy to see Zhou didn't go a whole season without points! :D
Sounds a mess of a race. I cant imagine how much Williams have paid in car repairs this year.

Enjoyed that race. Gasley driving so well. And last race too had it not been for the car failure.

The race director.. No idea what was going on there. Someone should be held to account. Should have thrown a safety car for that in 1 lap.

Well deserved by verstappen.
Quite sad to hear Hamilton wanting to give up really.

Actually thought alonso was gonna cruise past gasley with those mediums. Thought that was a great strategy. Less so for those crazy soft runner.

Rated 8 only because of the chaos. The first half of the race was a snooze.

As long as they are consistent (I'm not sure if they have been) yellow flag infringements do need significant penalties. It's marshals lives at stake potentially
