****OFFICIAL****3D Mark 11 Benchmarks Results Thread

had a go at getting to the 6000 mark with a single 6970 but failed once i got passed 980 on the core 3dmark11 crashed, i ran with the i7 920 @ 4.2ghz and useing sapphire trixx set the 6970 to 980/1460 and scored 5852, i could proberly sqeezed a bit more out of my pc but dont think i was ever going to break the 6k so gave up

Did you have Hyperthreading turned on in BIOS?.

I have managed to beat 6000 with my Sapphire 6970 flashed with the Asus bios and using Smart Doctor.

The issue seems to be heat as the benchmark will fail if I leave the fan on auto but passes without issue at 50%.

One thing that puzzles me the cpu speed in 3DMark11 is 3.6GHz whilst in CPU-Z is 4.0GHz ?? Does 3DMark11 not see the system turbo??

GTX 470 at stock voltages too. Temp maxed at 76 degC...push it further maybe?

Your setup is very similar to the one I will be getting soon, I have high hopes now :) I will be getting 2600K, Asus P8P67 DELUXE, Vengeance 8GB, and currently have 5970+Enermax 1Kw Galaxy.

Apart from 3dmark11, have you noticed much improve in games with the extra 5870?

Also, any reason why you have not tried pushing your 2600k past 4.3GHz?

The last result the cpu is at 4.5 its prime stable at that and have not tried higher.3dmark11 i see very little gain from cpu overclock but 3dmark06 i gain 1000s from going from 4 gig to 4.5 gig.

My cpu before was i7 930 which i found to give very little difference to 3dmark 11 from stock to 4 gig as 3d11 wants needs gpu much more than cpu same as heaven 2 benchmark but the old 3dmark06 seems to want cpu more than anything.

The difference the cpu makes varies depending on the game or benchmark but most id say a old i7 at 3.8 there's little to no bottleneck with my trifire but my main game i play iracing i have gained some fps with sandy bridge over my i7 930 as i think the sim is heavy on physics and also uses the cpu for the shadows.

Is sandy bridge worth it if you already have a overclocked i7 id say no not really it is faster for sure and noticeably faster in some things but unless you have deep pockets id say no keep your old i7 if thats what you have already.

I wanted my old i7 to build another rig so there was method in my madness but i do like playing with new tech aswell

3damark06 score went from 29700 with cpu at 4 gig to 33k with cpu at 4.5

I ran 5970 with 5870 trifire since these cards launched but for xmas i gave my brother my old qx6800 mobo and also my 5870 and i did notice a drop in performance going to the 5970 on its own even though most things play with very high frame rates so when ocuk had the xfx for £187 i bought myself another as i did miss the extra speed it gives.

Na, I have the old QX6700 so a new build is certainly needed. I know I will notice an improvement. And thanks for the feedback on how well your setup manages with benchmarks :)

My new setup is going to watercooled and 5GHz is quite possible with the right batch of CPU/Mobo. The Asus mobo I'm after will need an instant BIOS update as I heard some of them are maybe buggy and aren't oc'ing as well as they should.

I did once look at getting myself a 5870 since another 5970 would cost £450, compared to £180 for 5870. I've noticed recently that Ocuk have listed just one branded 5870 in a rejig of stock and prices. The price of 5970 went up too to £480! I'm sure the 5970 will last a while yet as the 4870x2 once did.

GPUs at stock

That's very impressive for the discontinued 920 @4.2GHz with stock GPU clocks. Is this because your GPUs are hitting the CPU ceiling or is there room for more to reach 11k as is expected with those in SLI?

So far I'm quite impressed with the 580's. In terms of setting a new record; I wonder how well a couple 5970's - or x3 580's - would score here in a 2600k setup

You will get a nice boost then with new cpu.

I used to run a qx6800 at 3.8 gig and when i went to i7 930 that was as quick on stock clocks as my qx at 3.8 then when running my i7 at 3.8 left it way behind and sandy bridge is faster again so you will see a nice boost.

Cheers

The i7 will quite happily bench at 4.6, but 3DM11 doesn't appear to like anything over 4.2 so I'll have to keep tweaking - I've seen just under 12k with 4.4 on a 920 and heavily overclocked SLI 580s
