**Official 3DMark 'Fire Strike' Leaderboard**

Yer, the sensible money will go for the 5930K I think I have talked myself out of the 5960X :D I still want to see some scores and clocks on the 5930 before deciding what to do, if anything at all.

Same, been pretty disappointed with haswell, aka Hades (4770k and 4790k). Last decent Intel platform I owned was x58. X99 will be expensive though but at least they wont be factory gimped for cooling like bog standard haswell.

DX12 and 4K being less demanding on the CPU are my reasons for holding fire. I currently don't see a bottleneck with a pair of Titans and 4.6Ghz, so an upgrade is more of a want than need. 3 Titans might be different mind ;)

My 5930k and asus x99 deluxe will be here tomorrow, so I'll be benching with my 3 290's, fingers crossed my memory turns up!

If you are going to be using two cards for benching the 5960X could be the better option.

For three cards the higher clockspeed of the 5930k could give the edge.

Either way I think it will be close and neither solution will win in all situations.

If I do get a 5960X next year I will be using it with the fastest card (single or dual GPU) I can find.

These are Elpidas Kaap. :( If i had Hynix I'm fairly confident I'd be nipping at your gpu score.

I noticed on my cards the other day even though they are all Asus reference and came in the same box that 2 are Hynix and 2 are Elpidas.

Having said that they can all do 1625mhz on the memory.

Interesting. Elpida is losing us a lot of points according to my single card run. I'm hoping Cy from XFX is going to sort me out with Hynix cards as he promised to send me cards with Hynix memory. Supposedly XFX DD 290X stock clock cards all have Hynix, but Black Edition 290X's at 1050/1250 have Elpida, which is what i got sent.

I ran this bench with two Hinix cards and then one of each and the difference in performance was about 100 points on the graphics score, hardly anything and within the margin of error.

I have to admire your cheek.

Maybe mine had some error correction kicking in, but over 1,000 points difference between my 1x290 Hynix and my 2x Elpida 290. Or maybe yours are just better clockers.

It really is tough at the top ain't it!

Some of the scores 8pack and you other other boys are setting are just incredible!

My system to me isn't a slouch so can ok guess at the performance at that level of gpu horsepower

Fair play to you all

The way i look at the bench threads on here mate, bench in your own category of cpu/gpu combination. Dont go pushing things to dangerous high levels where you may damage your kit. It's all for a bit of fun. Im no clocking expert wether it's cpu, memory or gpu's but the competition and banter on the various bench threads on here are good craic.:)

Oh I totally agree, its just amazing to see whats possible. I have hit the "safe" ceiling with my stuff with out really touching voltages and thats it as beyond that I will be honest and say "I dont have a clue" lol.

Just looked on Futuremark and it appears my score is actually the no.1 spot for all results with my CPU/GPU setup, that is good enough for me :)
