**Official 3DMark 'Fire Strike' Leaderboard**

People are definitely using MVP or tweaking driver settings to gain a few 100 points. Just goes to show how sad people really are for trying so hard to get the highest score on a forum against people who run it legitimately. There's absolutely no honesty anymore so things like this are pointless without rules put in place to make sure people aren't fiddling to gain an advantage.

That's why it was put in place on the heaven thread to stop people cheating.

Since I'm on a P67 I also have no MvP, however I must agree with Kaapstad that the x79 GFX scores don't add up. are people using different "Texture filtering quality" settings I raised this earlier but no one responded? Or could it be windows 8?

I must admit x79 scores don't add up.

Have mvp available on my setup. Tried it once a while back, totally useless bugfest. Uninstalled and disabled it a few minutes later.

Yes for anything other than benchmarking it's crap as I've been told it adds stutter to most games, but that doesn't stop people enabling it to run benchmarks to gain a better score then disabling it again.

Nickolp you on windows 7 or 8, also not pointing the finger but your sure you haven't got performance on via "texture filtering quality", since your post is so close to Rossi's - I couldn't help but notice that although you have the stronger memory clock, he has you beat on core, however your GFX smashes him, which tells me something is up via settings or the x79 has an issue somewhere?

On win 8, fresh install today. Loaded all drivers and apps, not touched a thing apart from clocks.
Running 39x130.35 bclk

Will check settings tom, but not using mvp or anything.

I never even got as far as launching a game with it. Tried it with bf3, crashed the game on launch and every browser i tried for battlelog. Also, having the igpu enabled on an oc'd Z77 setup only adds a bit more needless heat.

Rossi only just saw I am banned!!! So my almost 11k overall single 7970 score on Z77 is not allowed!!! with 12.5k + GPU score!!!

Good luck all following with interest till my ban gets lifted!! If it gets lifted that is!!! lol!!!!!

Not sure what you're getting at

Sorry, that was meant for 'Ur round next' as he posted his scores in the wrong thread. I thought a portal pic was apt and would have been funnier had I linked the correct poster.

Please ignore :)

Your ban will only be lifted if you can get your 680 above these pesky 7970's :p

My run was +1000 on the memory maxed and +212mhz (1414Mhz) on the core and I am getting stomped on big time :(

Post away 8Pack :)

Edit:

Can the accusations of cheating stop please. MVP has always shown up in previous 3DMarks and I expect it still to be shown when it is used. I have scrutinised high scores and seen nothing that shows any cheating. If people are cheating, they are only cheating themselves. Nothing to win in these OcUK forum benchmark threads and it is all personal pride.

It doesn't matter what system you have, I made a seperate section so everyone could compete with others with the same GPU.

I will look at scores again tomorrow and compare clocks with similar systems.

This thread's been busy today ;)

I have an updated score.

3DMark Score
9026 3DMarks

Graphics Score
10116
Physics Score
13020
Combined Score
3981

7970 1335/1870 Stock/Air Cooling

Might do more runs later, have been very busy benching today. :)

Ps.

Just a little shy of your score, LTMatt.

I don't think anyone is cheating most of the top scores are on X79.

I think what this benchmark shows is the benifit of w/c on graphics cards. The watercooled HD 7970s (using lower clocks) are out performing the aircooled ones even high clockers like the MSI Lightning and Matrix Platinum. I think this is due to how tough this bench is and the amount of heat produced. On my own matrix platinums I have to be very careful how much volts I put though the memory or the cards crash. This bench uses a lot of memory as well 1.5gbs on a single core and 1.85gbs in sli.

I noticed something similar, Kaapstad.

Once you push the memory too far the combined score drops quite a bit and then you have to wait for it to cool down.

Also, I'm on p67.

For those air cooled 7970'ers out there, what was the max temp reached (curious)? Fire Strike was by far the hottest of the bunch with mine hitting 69C max.

My cards where at 37c when running my test and I didnt push them, 1250mhz on the core @ 1.231v and 1.6v on the memory for 1800mhz

X79 and 3930K combos are working well and a few of the latest games are making good use of its power. I would expect the same fo this bench tbh.

I am at work till 6am, in case peeps were wondering why I haven't updated and it is impossible to do on my phone. I will jump on this thread with a cuppa as soon as I get in :)

Even if I run 1280/1875mhz on air I can not get near your score.

Next time I run it I will monitor the temps, I bet its more than double what you are getting.

I don't think it's down to just GPU grunt, overall my system is quick, but I do have lots of sub memory tweaks in place on my system ram etc.

From the listing on the first page your results show driver version 9.12.0.0, where as Locky, myself and many others are using 12.100.17.0 which is 13.2b1/2/3/4/5 variants, Kaapstad maybe try a run with the new beta's and share the results, could make up the difference?

For the single card runs I think I used the older drivers but for 2 cards I am now using 13.2 beta 4, I did try 5 but it did not load properly, I think 5 is for win8.
