Input should be 0.05v higher than cpu vcore, ie in my case. 1.300 vcore, 1.800 input @4.7ghz. Quite often you can run stress tests, but anything involving 3d will fall over as the synthetic tests dont stress the graphics system as much as gaming/3d benching. A good example being one of my old rigs that ran both p95 small fft/blend (24 hours for each). Crashed seconds into a game.

Thanks Setter, in my BIOS I have a setting for VCCIN, is that input voltage? If so it's currently left at AUTO with a reported value of 1.904, should I set that to a fixed 0.5 greater than my VCORE then? My VCORE is now set at 1.295 in the bios.

First time I ran the bench I wasn't actually in the room but I've just run it again and have spotted another likely culprit. Windows keeps interrupting the run with it's annoying 'Would you like to change the colour scheme to improve performance' dialog. I used to get that a lot with my old cards but wasn't expecting to still get it with a 295x2! Any ideas how can I stop that from popping up as it drops out whatever is running at the time?

VCCIN is indeed input voltage, (msi use a different term than gigabyte/asus). 1.904 is a little high but still well within the safe limit, so auto will be ok.

Regarding the windows aero colour scheme pop up, right click the 3dm icon, go to properties/compatibility/settings, disable desktop composition, apply.

Thanks for the pointers Setter. I've now just disabled Aero to sort out that issue and with the bump to vcore I'm now getting valid results.
I've also got a small oc on the gpu as well so improved the score a bit.
