*** Official 500m Rowing Challenge***

tried it tonight, 1min 41 secs, quite happy with that for an old lad.

1000m takes about 3min 50/55.

Nice one dude, I'll update the list. :)

Can we post levels of fitness? How long or how intense we have been training?

Could do I'd say medium level of fitness for myself, not really strong on the cardio front.

Interesting - I'll give this a go. Expect to be impressed lol! :D I'm hoping to get sub 1:40. I can do 1500m in 5:15 so should be achievable.

Do you need photographic proof or video?

For you FF, I trust you ;)

I might give this a go properly next week. I'll get my excuses in early though and say it's probably a silly idea when my back's not 100% and I've been doing way less cardio than I used to a few years back but nevermind. I was on course for about a 1:40ish time today after about 350m but decided to ease off as I wanted to do a bit more distance. :o

I might try this if I can ever bother getting access to the Gym (Might start again in early September when I'm back at Uni) as for now I get everything I want out of a small free weight collection at home and a large number of swimming each week!

I had a bash at beating my old time this morning, lactate levels hit the roof at 400m and threw up in the bin, not nice. :/

1:33:04, drag factor of 135 (water). Haven't been rowing for a while so I'm probably a few seconds slower than normal. Can't go much faster than that though.

Ooooooh a fitness test I can do well at!

My 500m pb is 1:21.1 - although I suspect it must be about 1:22/1:23 at the mo so I will have a crack at it tonight.

With regards to the damper level, it can be anything you like at indoor championships. Remeber level 5 on one machine does not mean level 5 on another depending on how clean it is/how much dust is built up in the fan. The drag factor is important and takes everything into account and is the number you should be concerned about. Finding out the drag factor is different, depending on the model so ask for help on that if you are not sure.

When I did GB trial they insisted on a drag factor of 132 - so if you want to do it like an olympic rower then set it to that.
