That seems a little low to me since most of the 5870's i have seen are getting around 120 average fps, i don't think the 5850 should be that much slower.
 
Make sure you don't have that MSI afterburner on screens display on, kills FPS.

Yeah 58's love lots of AA, I bet your 4850's couldn't keep up with full AA.

nope, on screens display isn't on.

i don't use AA even if i did thats not what im getting at..

Got my 5850 clocked at 775/1125 through CCC which is the limit, I tried AMD GPU clock tool where I can get the memory to the same 1200 clock of the 5870 and the core clock to around 820 stable if I want to go any further it will need a voltage increase but I'm not sure if I'm prepared to do so, I did try MSI afterburner didn't work though :(
 
Well don't be surprised your 4850's maybe marginal quicker in some games when not maxing out the settings, 5850 was built to do AA/AF for fun, thats where it will destroy your previous cards. Your doing 60+ fps in most games with AA and without so why not use it. I got 87fps in RE5 at 1680x1050 8xAA which is the norm compared to other users results on here.

Disable OSD for more FPS.
 
So if GPUtool can bypass the clock limits then surely it's a software thing rather than a bios thing, or am I misunderstanding how GPUtool works?
 
What drivers are you guys using ? the only ones that work for me are the ones that came on the Sapphire disc, if i use the ones off the ati site or the leaked beta's my games just crash after a few seconds.

Yes I am it overclocks fine on afterburner but is limited like CCC and the voltage will not move :( I know the HIS 5850 can overclock well because I have seen it on a techpowerup review, they didn't say how they did it unfortunately
 
Has anybody tried Crysis or Warhead at sensible settings?

Say 1680 x 1050, 2x AA and a mix of medium to high settings?
 
Is a 3d Mark Vantage score of 12810 good with my system? I was using the trial version of vantage so I couldnt change any of the settings.

Md99 I can run Crysis at all very high settings, 1600x1200 fine. With 2 aa it is mostly ok, but has a few stutters.

Specs in sig, I can run crysis at 1280x1024, 4xAA and all enthusiast settings, I get around 40 fps average, 30min and 60 max, this is with an overclock of 800/1200 :D

Just got my 5850 a few minutes ago, would it be extremely sad to admit (to normal people) that I'm going to stay in this weekend to benchmark my new graphic card? :D
 
Umm, Interesting, Anyone with XP care to run Crysis/warhead bench with and without 4xAA, I get about a 50% loss in frame rates, only tried at 1900x1200 but I can not see that as an issue.
