If all's well, maybe best to leave it...

However, the newest bios has upped the TDP resulting in lower voltage at higher clocks(for me anyway) and no need to add to the Power Limit.

Guess what. I have now got them working.

Ron's(matt) taking the blue theme too far-yes, I saw your AB screenie.:D

tommy's claiming the title of Fantana before I'm labled btw.;)

Were you running 8.1 on your Lightning?

Skyrim ran on W8, using W8.1(the only change being 8-8.1), I get a ctd trying to load a game.

A single Ice-Q was never going to compete with a Lightning, two of them would rip your old Lightning a new one(but you know that).

Also best to at least put the card through a BM too just to rule anything else out.

Flick the switch and your card should hit 1050 on the core or 1000MHz minimum on the stock boost bios, leave vram where it is and try again.

If Skyrim runs, maybe there was an issue with the flash.

New version of the best HIS Ice-Q Bios available for everyone to try. Comes with a slightly more aggressive fan profile. Again the need for power limit should almost completely reduced except at high overclocks with lots of voltage. Recommend everyone uses this one from now on. :)

Can't even get to dos prompt! No matter what button I press I can't get to it on my pc :(

Xfx780i mobo, helps all I get is normal bios or safe mode options etc

With your bios flash/files usb stick plugged in, you need to go into your mb bios and select the usb stick as the boot drive>save and exit and it will boot into dos.

Hey LtMatt,

Turns out the card is throttling % usage when playing chivalry approaching 50c each time.

Would a waterblock sort this card out or is faulty?

Cheers

It shouldn't throttle@50c, either the card is faulty or there is another software/hardware conflict in your system.

Is it possible to crossfire the 7950 with one of the newer R series cards? Also the amd display driver crashes when not using Afterburner on an OC 7950 with matt bios. Is this normal?

1.You can use an R280X with the 7950 in CrossFire.

2. It didn't crash on older drivers for me, idk about newer drivers though as I don't have them any more.
