***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

Read three reviews now, GX2 performance seems better than previews and rumours suggested

Remember launch price is less than what Ultra was at launch well over a year ago
Talk of comparing single GX2 with a cheaper SLI solution aren't relevant to a lot of
people who either don't have an SLI board, or those that happen to have an SLI board but aren't interested for whatever reason of going SLI, SLI only relevant to those that want to shell out another £100 to £160 on another 9600GT, 9800GT or 9800GTS, or maybe a 2nd GTX for £210 to add to what they already have

I wanna see 8800 Ultra tri sli against quad sli GX2. Old 8800 tri sli will probably still beat this lame quad gimmick at higher resolutions (or be near as makes no difference).

What would be the odds of seeing a review between these two; woud be good:D

Without going through all these pages, is worth going from a bfg 8800gtx oc2 to the 9800gx2?

Depends what hat your wearing, I've got that BFG card and further o/c it and as below :-

Performance gains the numbers gain - yes
Noticing the extra fps in games - maybe the higher lowest fps rates you'd notice
Worth the money if selling GTX for £175 ? - debateable
Would I go GTX to GX2 ? - mmmm not sure

I'm holding off Crysis, can play every DX9 title under XP at 1920x1200 at 4AA/16AF on 24", I cant imagine ANY title looking better or playing better/smoother, regardless of the fps numbers so I can't see any reason to change

Horses for courses and all that.....................

With the prices of pc games costing the same as consoles. eg call of duty 4 for £35. I carnt realy see the point now in spending £400+ on a gfx card over a £160 Xbox360 to play the same game. - Think about it!

Uhm, Call of Duty 4 is £40 for Xbox360 and £30 for PC. PC games are typically around 25-30% cheaper than the console variants, especially on release.

Tri-Sli Ultras vs Quad Sli 9800GX2....

Someone must be rich enough:p

Depends how and what you want to play your games at because the res and AA's this card can play at,the 360 can only dream about and people will pay for that.

I hope tri-sli ultras walk all over the 9800GX2's then maybe the mugs that bought a GX2 will realise their mistake :P
