***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

Well i finally got round to doing a Crysis benchmark, came out at 56.46, no need to provide SS i reckon as thats hardly ground breaking. Im pretty happy with it tbh, considering my system is absolutely nothing special at all i reckon its pretty good. I also reckon i can get it to 60 with some more work. Im trying to get to 3.6 stable on my E6600 and my current GX2 clocks are at 716/1704/1105 and i havent even finished overclocking it to breaking point yet.

Can some other GX2 owners post up some of their overclocks please? Im still taking it slowly and would like some comparisons so i know roughly how much more ive got to go.

Lets see, 2x211+~100 =£511 Vs £375 for the GX2

Plus the hastle of two cards, a flakey Nvidia mobo and re-fitting my whole PC

A bit of a no-brainer for me really, with the GX2 I just plug and play.

I scored 16460 3DMarks last night with Vista x64 SP1, Gx2 at stock speeds with latest official driver.

Out of interest that is pretty much what I scored in vista with 8800GT SLI and e8500@4Ghz

Im OCing at 700 / 1100, any more than its not realy stable, haven't bothered any smaller increments yet...

Waiting to get a water block :)

Oh nice, maybe i got a good core then, mine its totally stable on the clocks i posted.

Ofcourse this is all assuming Rivatuner is doing its job properly, and some reports say it isnt.

Oh well, i guess ill push it as far as i can.

I've had it benching at 777/1944/2300, set it at 725/1836/2200 for games. Seems fine so far. Can't get any decent 3dmark06 scores out of it in XP, I get 20K at stock, 4GHz quad. Increasing to 4.6Ghz 777/2300 and the score hardly changes. Vista seems the clocks actually change, but the scores are terrible, 22.5K 4.6Ghz 777/2300.

3Dmark06 seems to be totally obselete when it comes to testing the GX2, a lot of people have said overclock changes arent showing up, ive just totally ignored it for now in preference to using a Crysus benchmark to test out my changes.

That's what I do, the Crysis bench just flys now and is very sensitive (albeit small) to any clock changes.

The cheapest version of the X2 on OCUK is £270 whereas the GX2 is £352.49, that's double the performance for a 30% price increase ;).

think your find the x2's are around £250 OcUK dont seem to have followed suit with the price drop on the x2.

We just need to agree that all tests from now on are done at 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF

True or MM u can grab an X2 for £230-240ish quite a few 3870X2 owners selling it cos the GX2 is out :)

Still RRP X2@250 vs GX2@350, that extra 100 quid sorta hard to say if its worth the extra bit but then it is only £100!
