**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

I think all servers will be severely hammered come full release (when is it by the way) unless they do something to address the capacity. Adding new servers would be a worse idea than expanding the current ones in my opinion.

came into my first queue on telemachus 20min, if anyone is interested we have started our own guild on asmo side (Asphyxiation) whisper Cerissa which is me if your interested. loving the game so far, just had my first little bit of pvp fun, around 30 of us asmo's killed 20 elyos which was grouped together, fun fun fun..

Full release is the 25th, leading into the first "proper" weekend and we all know what the first weekends of major MMO releases are like. Utter nightmares. This weekend will be no different and just as rough :)

To quote Knox from my earlier post :

Does NCsoft currently have any plans to make sure that this scene isn't repeated on retail launch day?

"We have preparations in place but there is some weathering of the storm that needs to take place."

Not sure what their preparations are, but if experience has taught me anything its that regardless of the company or the procedures, major MMO first weekends are always mayhem. I am expecting the same this weekend :)

Regarding the private stores and people using them to stay online...

There are quite a few private stores on the most popular servers. Booting these users out is not going to elimiate queues, but we might be able to make them quite a bit shorter. It's a topic here right now, I'll let you know what comes out of it.

Sounds like they are going to put a timeout on it

I have my kids this weekend so will be pretty unaffected. Think our guild is going to wait it out. Queues everywhere now i think.

EDIT

They don't mention timeouts, just say they will make the queues shorter if they boot them.

I have quite a lot of PHP stuff that I should do for work this weekend, I really should do it to get it out of the way. So I will probably log in earlier before the queues, stick up a shop and then do the PHP stuff and play later when I'm ready.

But I really dont know, I might skip this weekend. Done too many MMO launch weekends and they are never a pleasant experience.

Yeah...but they arent going to have someone sat there going around booting them, so the only way they can make them get booted would be to instigate a timeout period. IE, after 30 mins of inactivity and personal shop, you are booted from the server.

They could just disable them or set it to boot them when the server has queues. Timeouts will deal with most and i guess when people know they are in place they wont even set their shops up.

I have a question about the in-game items from preordering...

Do i have to claim them before Friday, or can i wait until friday or later to claim?

I'm out of it this weekend (building my i5 rig) which I'm quite glad about. I'm getting too old to still be sitting in damn queues to play mmo's

I'm not 100% sure, I would guess that you can claim them any time. I mean they are already listed on your account so I dont think they will be removed. The stats on the helm are pretty darned good though, the other items are not quite so impressive, but was well worth me claiming mine for the helm alone :)

This is interesting, I was down to 1hr45mins queue on Spatalos and then it jumped and I'm now in. Is there any chance that it's NCsoft's action against AFK shops taking place already?

Ah i see, its just that i might not be around till later on and i don't want to end up missing out lol

I wouldnt have thought so, it sounded more like they were still discussing it rather than ready to implement it. Could be that they upped the cap though.

Went on Castor about 6:30 PM and no queue but reports of 30 minutes by 9 PM when I logged off.

Think I'll play a bit until release dies down and queues settle a bit before joining the OcUK legion server.

i placed my order for this game today so i should have it either thursday or friday :) i bought it from the games shop that sounds like a train might stop at it, i have no idea if they ever get games out a day early like some other places?

That particular store has been bought up by another store with a very similar name that usually always dispatches a day or two before release to guarantee release day arrival (unless RM strike action gets in the way). What this means is that the store you bought it from gets their online orders sent from the same warehouses etc meaning dispatch and arrival will be just as early as the parent company :)
