****Official Aliens vs Predator Thread****

Part of me wants this, but the saner part keeps telling me I'll end up cacking myself everytime I turn it on :(
 
I think a name change is in order for you "Wussi" :p

This is going to be a marmite game for me. I'll either love it or hate it. I'll wait for reviews or rent it first.

Why do people keep mentioning this?

They are the sounds from the film, which are awesome!
I wouldn't want to change them at all.

Personally I think it's more of a testament to the old game in how good the weapons sounds were when compared to the film
 
Exactly! The sound effects from the original movies, especially aliens are awesome. The pulse rifle, smart gun, the cool sounds the doors make when they open and close, the squeals of the aliens as they get blown to gibs, and lets not forget the motion tracker. All fantastic effects and I’m glad they haven’t messed with them as they bring that added layer of authenticity to the games that helps the atmosphere.

I seem to remember the musical score from avp2 (can’t remember 1 so much) being spot on too. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. Going to be awesome on my projector :D
 
I re installed AVP2 on my PC on saturday.... It has aged (graphics look low res and the lighting was terrible but damn.. it still made me jump when the first Alien attacked, even though I knew it was coming LOL....

I can't wait to have the *&^%$ scared out of me in the new version as from all the trailors, the textures are great, the lighing Far superior and the sounds... well they were great in the old one...

This looks like it could really do the franchise justice, fingers crossed ;)

How is it not a step forward ?? Its been 10 years since the original these guys have the ability to do things now which they will have only dreamed of doing back then. The graphics are far far superior as well as lighting. The sound effects are a testimony to the films, any fan of the franchise would not want them changing. It would be like changing the main theme to james bond.

We will have to wait and see how good the game actually is but to say that the game has not stepped forward massivly is just insane.

The predator has been improved loads, look for the gameplay videos as predator. Looks amazing!! If you seriously think thats like the old game I dont know what you were playing back then as it was better than the avp 1 and 2 I played :D

Awesome, I will just buy this now I think instead of renting it. All the videos I've seen look half decent and if they can get a tad of the survival horror needed like Dead Space it could be excellent.
 
I was going to book the day off work for when this comes out but a girl I work with already has the day off because she has to have an operation, I tried to explain the importance of this game over her operation but she wasn't having it :(

Watching some gameplay videos, it seems that the honour kill system still isn’t back for the Predator :(

For anyone unsure, the original on the Atari Jaguar had an honour points system, where you would gain points for honourable kills, i.e. killing a Marine or Alien without using the cloak, these points then led to the ability to unlock the spear etc.

I don’t recall, but I’m fairly sure that the PC versions didn’t have it either, just hoped it would have returned…
 
Watched the latest vid for this on GT... story seems to be a shameless rehash of the first game... likewise, all the MP game modes seem hopelessly "been there, done that".

But it's AvP so who cares :D
