since you have the same board and cpu, would you mind sharing your bios settings to see where i may be going wrong / improve? this 4.9ghz wall is driving me mad :mad:

I posted some screens a few pages back mate. Those were the settings I got the 5.17 into Windows on. Just played with the multi and FSB until it booted in and registered with CPUID :)

Interesting to hear about your score dipping over windows version. Did you use the same chipset drivers etc or were they slightly different?

Someone mentioned their board has a new BIOS since 8.1 maybe this could have an effect.

Yep I tried with the bios I already had (1503 I think) and also the new one (1602 which improves "stability" in win 8/8.1) and got the same results. Drivers are the win 8/8.1 versions of the chipset so I went with those. Can't really explain why win 8/8.1 doesn't like 5.1/5.2 GHz but in terms of benching, that is definitely disappointing. Almost tempted to go back to win7 ultimate.

Yes true this:). If I can't bench I knock the settings down to a level where I can.
 
OMG OMG OMG !! Been desperately looking for a flat down near my family for a year. Apols if this is a little OT.. Any way, after a year of fruitless searching we found one, and, it looks like good things come to those who wait. Check this out !









The flat itself is just massive and I mean, so massive that it actually has more floor space than my mother's three bedroom house :D

I'm just sitting here ready to burst, thinking about Christmas walks on the beach and summers to die for :D

Just doing all of the legal stuff etc. Should be in within 6 weeks so Christmas on the beach is a possibility :D

For computer sounds, digital music, games etc. I use the onboard realtek and SB X-Fi. I also have a cheap ASUS Xonar installed, but not using it at the moment. This soundcard has an aux-in connector which I modded for RCA connectors to import sounds if I am ripping.

I did use the computer for analogue sound from my records, but I have amplified speakers attached to the PC and use a second line input on those for a phono preamp, bypassing the PC sound.

I can't find any details on the audio chip in the keyboard, they're probably both pretty dire - I'd guess the onboard would be slightly better though
 
BTW guys forgot to show this (and couldn't get a decent pic in my dark room).



Added a fan to cool off the Northbridge. Took an old PCI back plate, cut it with the dremel, bent it into shape then drilled two holes in. I had the 92mm Redwing brand new in the packet so I just braided it and in it went.

Edit. Nyeaaaah rat fans !
 
I had to do it tbh. At 4.8ghz the back of the PC was actually hot to the touch around the IO area. Like really, really hot.

My mascot is out in the back garage.. Will get him in soon ;)

The onboard of my m5a99x evo r2 are really good I have a logitech surround sound hooked up through the and it handles it fine sounds wicked I believe the sabertooth uses same audio hardware if this helps.

Great pics andy fan will help no end also try adding one behind socket on rear of mobo. Dropped my socket temps a lot :)

Once kids are in bed will post rig pics the to hit splinter cell cant wait any longer lol, if anyone has it post your ubisoft name and we can have a rass
