***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

Will will get pics up for you soon, out atm but couldn't resist a cheeky look on here while the fiancé and kids blow my money lol

The onboard of my m5a99x evo r2 are really good I have a logitech surround sound hooked up through the and it handles it fine sounds wicked I believe the sabertooth uses same audio hardware if this helps.

Great pics andy fan will help no end also try adding one behind socket on rear of mobo. Dropped my socket temps a lot :)

Once kids are in bed will post rig pics the to hit splinter cell cant wait any longer lol, if anyone has it post your ubisoft name and we can have a rass

Never thought of that ! I do have a Scythe Jyu slim somewhere too !

I want red LEDs now :D

Also th0nt tried the steam sig maker wont let me log in to make a sig how did you go about it?

If you know your id name you can just link to that, otherwise you create an account where you accept the link to steam.

Looking forward to it - not the wife blowing your money though! :D

Hmm what internal case temps you got? I didnt think you would need direct small fans on the mobo if you have good air flow..

Neither did I lol want a second monitor but may be out question after there littke spree lol

Um case temps are low 20's I idle around 26/27 socket and 25 mobo

The fans help when system goes under load ie benching, @ idle temps are same with or without fanson mobo within a couple degdegree's but @ load found fans did make a difference to temps. Because all things on mobo ie vrm's, north bridge all join together at socket so more air you can get to that the better the overall temps will be. Have spent a lot of time eith fans blowing, sucking with and without and can say without a doubt the more air i got onto socket and vtm's it defo helped temps at load

Also there is a article on Web about water cooling saying because water block doesn't have a fan like air cooling temps will suffer so to counteract this fans are needed. Because a standard cpu air cooler that blows down does blow some air towards vrm's, so adding fans does help

Hope that makes sense you guys that use air shouldn't need them or notice much difference but with water blocks or closed loop coolers people deem to say they help

Looking good Andy, liking the rig.

Farmerboy, here are the bios settings for my 5GHz clock. Voltage I need is 1.51V. You may need more. Apologies for the pic quality. Taken with an ipad! To enlarge, click each pic:

For the one below I found that enabling/disabling spread spectrum makes no difference. It does at 5.2GHz though

Ok I upped my vcore up couple of taps, and set the VDD CPU to a bit higher than stock. I ran this AIDA stress test thing for over an hour without any hiccups temps reaching 52c max.

I seem to be needing almost 1.5v to go beyond 4.8Ghz running stable.

my rig guys and th0nt will post bios next no probs :D

my little setup

Nice setup, no point tidying till you have finished tinkering - I have already whipped off the side and changed a few things 'temporarily'.

still cant better 4.9ghz given up now.. all wires cable tied and side panels are back on. cant say im not disappointed but oh well.

i will not buy water cooling, i will not buy water cooling, i will Not! buy water cooling! :(

TBH it sounds like you and Thont got chips from the same batch. I guess I was really lucky to get one that'll do 5.07 pretty stable.

cant complain too much at a cpu that will go from 3.5ghz to 4.9ghz :D

im sure that in the hands of someone that knows these platforms inside out, this cpu could squeeze out a little more

edit: do you / anyone which bit of code on the box tells you the batch?

I took a picture of the chip before installing it, I still have the box too.

CPU-Z shows: F-2-0-15-2-OR-C0

I dont think water cooling would do you much better 0range, unless you were to get your GPU and NB on the loops.

I think the chip could boot into 5+ Ghz but stability for 24/7 running I know would be an annoyance.

pointless me getting waterblock for a gpu, i upgrade too often and i dont think my nb is getting too hot either. lets face it... the heatsinks on the crosshair are far superior to that of the ud3 i had before

its not for everyday use.. this is just a how far can i push it? iv even thought about taking the board out, sticking it on my test rig and ghetto modding a cooler and throwing ice cubes at it :D unless someone will give me some of the good stuff.. mwaahahhaha
