*** Official AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Overclocking Thread ***

Got this chip yesterday with a CH IV Formula. Not done too much oc'ing yet just upped the fsb a little so I'm running about 3.8ghz at the moment.

Question is I'm idling at 12C. I'm using a Noctua NH-D14 and I know it's good but is it that good?!

12C on cores or on CPU (TMPIN*)

I can idle 12C on cores in HWM with a Thermalright ultra 120. Approx 22C on TMPIN1 (gigabyte)

which cpu cooler do you recommend with that hardware for optinal OCing?

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T Black Edition 3.20GHz
Asus M4A89GTD PROUSB3 AMD 890GX
Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
NZXT Phantom case

please anyone? this is the best thread to get a good answer as we're all running the same cpu

I'm considering getting a 1090t, but to work out pricing I was wondering what board and RAM speed people recommend for getting a 4GHz OC without wasting money on things I wouldn't use like SLI.

Posting in here as seems best place to considering it is about 1090T.

Originally my NB and HT was auto but was x10 fsb, set to x10 and had 12 hours prime stable on 250fsb but had to increase volts +0.04 to 1.34v.

Reading a lot of this thread I see people are increasing the NB but not HT as it seems HT has enough bandwidth. Which is best then?

200fsb x 10 = 2ghz HT, x 13 = 2.6ghz NB
or
250fsb x 8 = 2ghz HT, x 10 = 2.5ghz NB
or
200fsb x 10 = 2ghz HT, x 10 = 2Ghz NB

all with relevant cpu multi to give 4ghz.

200fsb x 10 = 2ghz HT, x 13 = 2.6ghz NB. thats how i have mine.

no reason to up the system bus if u have a black edition cpu.

Right seem to have a stable 3.8ghz clock now  been prime stable for 10 hours but will be leaving for it to pass the 12 hour mark.

200fsb, 2Ghz HT, 2.4Ghz NB x 18 = 3.8Ghz.
NB voltage had to be upped to a little to 1.34 V over 1.3 standard ( i think, will double check this once 12 hours have passed)
CPU increased voltage to 1.35V but being slightly overvolted to 1.36V according to hw monitor and cpu z.

Just walked in though and the door had been shut so room temp got upto 27C  but max cpu temp is 41C

Still aiming for 2.6ghz NB and 4Ghz so will update as that goes. Not bad for first overclock though I think (though does seem really easy with an unlocked multi)

Obligatory screen shot

Easytune confirms cpu temp as same value. Quick drop into BIOS shows cpu of 31C and into windows TMPIN1 is 32C / 33C. Core temp and overdrive 'core temps' seem to be consistantly ~10C lower than cpu temps which show as 32C under prime. Also unique side effect of watercooling and running prime, as cpu heats up to mid - high 30C's (taken from TMPIN1) it starts to heat up my gpu too.

All this points to me that TMPIN1 is my cpu temp - or is my logic completely wrong? (as it very well known to be at times haha)

Seriously?

I must be doing something wrong.
My 1055T (95W) is overclocked to 3.5GHz and it idles at around 31C going up to around 46C after just an hour of Prime95.
I'm using water-cooling too! (Not the best or most expensive setup it's true, but still).

I wonder if the 4870x2 that's also in the loop it having an effect? Or do I need to tighten the screws on the cpu block (I don't want to break anything).

Seriously yeah, unless my logic is wrong which as I said it may well be. What watercooling set up do you have? Looked back through your previous posts but couldn't see a spec of it. Mines Laing d5 (set at 2), 1/2 inch tubing, ek supreme cpu block, ek 470 block, black ice sr1 360 with 3 apache vipers @ 1000 rpm for that prime run.

Looking back through your posts though I think you are running higher cpu voltage than me. Also 2 gpu's will have an effect, not sure how much though.

I'm running an XSPC X20 750 res/pump, Delta V3 cpu block, EK 4870x2 block (I think, 4870x2 was second hand with block pre-fitted) XSPC RS240 rad and EK 120mm rad, 4 Apaches (2 on 240mm in pull and 2 on 120mm in push pull) with 3/8" tubing.
I think my CPU voltage is 1.4v @ 3.5GHz.
