*** Official AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Overclocking Thread ***

well I seem to be struggling with temps guys - I had a run of nearly 20+ hours on prime96 with my CPU at 62Degrees C, until it finally failed @ 4Ghz/1.42v 22hours later.

Upping to the next step (1.425v) took me over the threshold (63degerees c) so I stopped it. I've reduced my CPU-NB volts (as I had to set it to 1.3v to be able to get 2400CPU-NB) and its now running prime95 at around the 55mark which is more promising with HTT and CPU-NB at standard 2000Mhz.

Also reseated my H50 and changed fans around- but was still getting REALLY high temps (60-ish) which I ain't comfortable with.

ONE thing I did notice though when installing the CPU - there was a slight concave in one of the corners of the CPU - maybe this is affecting my temps as everyone else here seems to be getting mid 50's for 4Ghz :( Might lap both the CPU and H50.....

oh! - and I get best temp results using one intake fan on the H50.

weird that ... 1 intake on H50 is resulting in lower temps but thats how mine is setup

I didnt change anything but multi and vcore so didnt have anyother concerns like HT volts .. just gotta get stable on 4Ghz with 1.45 - 1.46vcore

so far 1 hour OCCT passed and now using IBT 20 runs @ normal and 20runs @ high to follow hopefully

nah b ;) - it HAS to pass 24 hours before I call it stable. I remember ocing the crap outta my q6600 and leaving it running prime for 3 days solid lol!

Just needs tweaking @ 4Ghz on temps/volts - I know nothing stresses a cpu like prime does but I just like to be on the safe side with oc-ing my system.

I still need to reseat the H50 CPU block - All I did was slap on a thin line horizontally of AS5 so need to see if that spread ok - it'll be the weekend before I get to do that. Anyone used AS5 on they're CPU - just wondering how you applied it?

Latest version of coretemp is pretty poor - shows temps at least 10 degrees below what both asus probe and HWMonitor shows!.

Also noticed even though C1E and CnQ is disabled that these cpu's clock down to 800mhz when idle!

well blow me down with a feather .... I forgot to even turn C&Q off .. lmao

OK I now have 1 Hour default OCCT pass - 20 runs IBT @ Standard & 20 runs @ High passed on 4Ghz vcore 1.44-1.46 but the temps looked like they hit 56C-57C during the IBT High test at one stage

cant run IBT on higher as it wont allow with 4Gb of ram

no doubt will all be in vain when I update the BIOS I will have to repeat it all again .. lol

so do you leave C&Q and C1E disabled permanantly or just during stress testing

so what are we all using to monitor our temps?

Reason I ask is that every program seems to report them differently!

for example
PC Probe (which I found to be the most accurate with my 965BE) - 58Degrees C
Coretemp reads 47Degrees C
HW Monitor reads - 58Degrees C
and AMD OD reads - 47Degrees C!

Which one are we supposed to go with!

eerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr HELP .. lol

updated BIOS to new beta ... now the default vcore stays the same every boot .. problem is its now permanant 1.475 .. lol

prime95 is reading vcore @ 1.49v ... but .. and this is the strange bit ... despite the higher vcore the temps are maxing @ 52C lower than what they did on 1.45vcore

still forgot to disable C&Q but then the multi stays @ 20X on this board all the time and never changes enabled or disabled

I'm using AOD.
I appreciate what Gareth's said.
But why on Earth would AOD have a temperature reading on the cores when they're supposedly wrong?
Doesn't make sense.
even amd themselves said you need to monitor the cpu temp, not core temp..

its impossible for the core temp to be lower than the cpu temp, hence that why its software generated...

also amd overdrive isn't only for phenoms

how is it impossible, you still havent linked or explained how/why its software "guessing".

Maybe you could get hold of your AMD contact your using and ask about the difference not just one to use?

Cheers. :)
