*****Official Ashes thread*****

I'd have the Aussies back out on the field where they can dwell on the failure and tire themselves out in a hot field whilst we bat again to be honest.

Yeah, we'll bat them out of sight.

Plus, it's Lords, day two of a 5day game. They will probably be nudged in the direction of prolonging the game a little... If they make them follow on, the game could be over on day 3!

You don't think England would put them back in? Why?

Why put yourself in the position of batting last when you dont need to?

It's regularly seen that follow innings can be much more solid, and it could end up with Aus having a 200 lead. Not ideal to go on day 4/5 trying to get that to win the game on a deteriorating pitch. Much better to get your 450+ lead, which is uncatchable, but still give yourself plenty of time to bowl them out on the deteriorating pitch.

We'd come back in needing about 80 looking at this Aussie lineup!

Give the openers some batting practice ;) with the pressure off, no less.

Maybe the Aussie's will shut up about us relying on Anderson. Hasn't taken a wicket today.

In all fairness, we kind of do though...we're not a one man bowling attack, but at times it looks like it. Swann is excellent, and on their day Broad and even Finn can be very good, but Anderson is head and shoulders above them all.

^Was just about to type that the oddest thing on this scorecard I can see is that Anderson hasn't gotten a wicket :p.

Aussie 100 up!
