*****Official Ashes thread*****

Pattinson has pace, and can swing the ball, but not the accuracy. Starc isn't that much better I suppose but Pattinson just hasn't figured England out. Harris and Siddle can stay. Not really sure how Agar made 98 at Trent Bridge, but he has to go.

Watson is the major disappointment. As Sky have just pointed out, he's so predictable. It's a shame for Australia that he is such a cornerstone. They also need his tidy bowling. His batting certainly isn't up to much.

I didn't know much about Pattinson before this series tbh. With Watson, you have to accept that he won't make you a hundred, but he is likely to get you off to a decent start with maybe 50-odd quite regularly.

I agree that Siddle and Harris are set in stone, but as harsh as it is, I think they have to consider dropping Agar.

on the subject of Agar making 98...does anyone remember Alex Tudor doing the same for us(99)?

And on the England front, I feel sorry for Steve Finn! At this rate, until England have wrapped up the series, I don't see him getting back into the team. I suppose that may only be a match away I guess.

Bizarre. Hotspot showed nothing but there was a noise and the ball moves.

Personally I don't like Hotspot. It never seems to work particularly well.

What the hell? The umpire gives that not out, the only way third umpire can give him out is if there's clear evidence to say otherwise?? Which there isn't...

If there's any doubt from third umpire then it goes back to the on field umpire decision...

DRS is a mess.

Maybe the third umpire doesn't fancy coming back in tomorrow?

The thing is, it looks out to me. The only thing which would make me say otherwise it hotspot.

That must be why batsman are reviewing, where else did the noise come from? as soon as Agar had swung at it he looked disgusted with himself.

Basically what Michael Holding said.

Two fundamental problems with DRS- firstly the way it's being used by the players, secondly the third umpire decisions. Just awful.

agree with that, Cook review it rightly so because of the noise its down to the third umpire thats ****** it up and England get the back rep

He clipped it for sure and Holding is doing my head in with the way he is talking about it
