*****Official Ashes thread*****

I don't think they would keep Botham if they put Boycott in the same studio as him to be honest.

I miss Richie Benaud

Someone said about having Bumble and Boycott together... I want Bumble to leave Sky and join TMS, so we can get a Blowers/Bumble partnership going, with Tuffers at the side

Gets worse for the Aussies, James Pattinson ruled out for the series with a back injury, stress fracture. Mind you he didnt bowl very well in either of the tests, perhaps his back was giving him problems. Starc will probably come back into the squad.

Oh well. Hope he's better soon, and it doesn't hinder his development too much, Australia don't have that many prospects to be honest and he could turn out quite good. Starc back in for sure. I wonder who they'll call up to replace him in the squad?

As for Boycott, I love him. Says what others are far too polite to. Speaks sense.

Botham speaks his mind, never afraid to be critical, so I'm glad Sky have him. Nasser Hussain too. Watched some Channel 5 highlights of the 2nd Test, Michael Vaughan, urgh, how did they manage to train him to sound so overly excited and shouty. My current favourite duo for being easy on the ears is Atherton and Bumble, it's just so pleasant :D

I don't mind Botham, but I think he is far too critical most of the time. He isn't the worst I suppose....I really can't stand Nasser Hussain though. He is far too negative, and seems to believe that he is the best captain we have ever had...

I have to give lots of credit to David Gower as well, I think I would miss him if he left. He holds it all together very well, the Gary Lineker of Cricket!

Haha you're onto something with Botham being too critical actually, I've always imagined him being a complete ******* PE teacher who destroys you for every little thing. Hussain knows his stuff though (not that the others don't), and I just think it's nice to have a recent former captain on who's a bit more opinionated (even if it comes out negative), rather than the much softer Athers and Strauss.

I love Beefy as much as any England fan, but I think he might suffer from that thing that really great players sometimes get when they go in to coaching/commentary etc...they expect players to be as good as they were. Yeah Ian, you might have been able to knock 150, then open the bowling and take 5 wickets, then go for 8 pints afterwards, but not everyone can!

Sussex vs Australia was fun yesterday...apart from the rain:rolleyes:

James Taylor looked pretty good, he got 64 yesterday, and got to 124 by the end today:)...my god he is tiny!!!

By my reckoning, Jonny Bairstow is the one under a bit of pressure now for the next test...If Taylor plays ahead of KP and makes a decent score, Bairstow is about the only player they can replace when KP comes back.

Also, interesting to see Tremlett back in the team. Seems they have just completely dropped Steven Finn, which is a shame because he can be effective, he was just in a bad patch(though I do think he is slightly one dimensional myself)...I was hoping Onions might make a comeback, always rated him.

England are unchanged:

Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson

Three changes for Australia:

David Warner, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc for Phil Hughes, Ashton Agar and James Pattinson.

Good start from the Aussies, 57-0 and a good decent partnership for them at last. But its only a matter of time before the wickets start falling:p...it will be interesting to see how Warner 'give Root a smack' does:p

LOL Watson, again out for a sub par score...think its time they dumped him, he really is having a torrid time here in England.

76-1 and now the collapse begins:p
