*****Official Ashes thread*****

Was out with mates last night and missed this.

What a finish! Amazing scenes!

Very lucky win for England. I hope Clarke has learned a valuable lesson about wasting reviews.

:D

tbh I really thought they was going to take the win, so close!

Not sure England were any luckier than Australia had young Mr Agar been given out stumped for 6 as he should have then England would have been out of sight. Both teams had some good luck and some bad luck with decisions and the review system but your certainly right about Clarke using them better the review system was supposed to be there to stop the howlers not gamble on marginal decisions and while everyone has been guilty of this Clarke certainly recieved a massive object lesson in using them wisely this weekend.

If the standard stays this high it should be an awsome summer my only concerns are Autralias batting line up looks far to flakey and relying on tail to save the team can't work for ever and if Anderson get's injured I think Englands bowling attack would look a little toothless.

England have named an unchanged squad for Lords. I can't help but fear they will leave Finn in the side because 'it's his home ground'. Keeping it tight and forcing the mistakes through building pressure is much the better option imo, we already have Broad who can be erratic so I'd pick Bresnan as the third seamer, he's not the wicket taking threat he was a few years ago but he should be able to keep it tight and add to our lower order batting which was found a bit lacking at trent bridge.

broad seems to be lucky at lords though. also finn hitting the deck hard with the slope should "hopefully" have more luck.

he is bowling well in first class games domestically, but hasnt taken enough wickets for his supposed class. lots of chatter about him though.

Personally, I would prefer Bresnan to come in, but tbh we should beat Australia whichever we play. Sticking with Finn isn't bad.

I have always rated Onions, but not sure what he is up to these days really.

Unlucky Aussies lost by 12 runs, but knew that England would win anyways. 2nd test should be another corker, another England win will do nicely.
