**Official Asus A8N-SLI Premium Thread**

Because you have an X2.

The A8N prem has real problems with voltages on X2. I have my 4400 at 2577Mhz with vcore voltage set a 1.4v. However this gives a real voltage of anywhere between 1.39 and 1.424v.

At 1.5v a I think mine did 2670mhz but turned the settings down to be able to run my CPU fan at 1600rpm.

The latest 1009.004 beta gives a bit more stability on voltages and may give you a higher vcore

Can anyone tell me the difference between the :

Asus A8N-SLi nForce4 SLi (i.e. standard)

and

Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi?

I've seen the difference between deluxe and premium posted, but not the difference between deluxe and standard (unless I missed it!) And I can't seem to see the difference on the OCUK page either.

Sorry for my ignorance!

Anyone playing with an Opteron in their A8N-SLi yet? Interested in reports of Standard, Deluxe or Premium boards... aparently the Premium is the only one able to get to 300htt, the other two are stuck at 250ish?! Is that correct?

I've got one on the way. The lastest BIOS doesnt play ball with my Winny and I can't get over 298 with 1T enabled, but it goes higher if I disable 1T. Will post in the thread with my results :)

Forgive the second post, but I didn't realise there was a whole thread dedicated to this board. Gets a bit unwieldy in size though!

I keep getting an error when trying to install Asus Update on my new setup (A8N-Sli Premium/XP2)

Any ideas why? I tried both the version on the disk, and the latest downloaded version :(

Mine wont work either doesn't see the board as being an ASUS one. Just download the BIOS file stick it on a floppy, reboot and hit alt-f2 and it'll flash from the updater in rom and the image on the disk.

It seems pretty awful to me that it doesn't work! It's their own motherboard and software, and XP/SP2 is standard!

Now that you've updated your Bios, can you try installing the update again, to see if that helped please?

Didn't work with the board out of the box, doesn't work with any of the bios updates but to be honest I'd rather flash the bios outside of windows.

does the 1009.004 bios give more voltage options for single core. At the moment on 1.55v. Does the new bios offer more voltage settings?

Just use Winflash to flash the BIOS, works like a charm.

Have flashed to the latest BIOS and the highest Vcore I can select is 1.5 :( This X2 voltage problem is very annoying and I've only had this board a day!

Do any of the older BIOSes offer higher Vcore? Hitting a wall with my clock and I think the chip needs a bit more juice to go further.

Hey,

Forgot to ask, is anyone using a Zalman cooler with their board? I had to fit mine in a rather ghetto way with custom screws because I didn't want to pull off the Asus backing plate which seemed to be glued on?! So I couldn't fit the zalman custom backplate...

Cheers,

Suman

I have a zalman fatatility on mine, fits no problem. I used to have the smaller 7000cu version before that aswell.
The glued back plate comes off quite easily actually just used a old CC to prise it off :p

If it's anything like my old Asus board it's pretty strong stuff they use for sticking that on. As long as you can use something to prise a corner up you should be OK.

Heres mine. Its real easy to take the glued on backplate off, just prise old CC or similar under a corner then gently work it back and forth till you can get hold of the plate. Just take it easy and be patient

Hello,

I am needing to buy a board and i was thinking of buying a Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi, i have a couple of questions.

Would i be able to have, Two S-ata Harddrives has RAID, but also have two harddrives has Non-RAID all connected at the same time.

I ask this question because i am worried that there might be SCSI conflicts?

Also does anyone know how the RAID is detected in the bios along with two other harddrives?

thanks.

I notice you have the Molex connector connected by the graphics card mate. I read in the booklet that you only need to connect it to a molex if you are using the board in SLi mode.

Yeah i read something along those lines when i first built it up, but decided to leave the molex plugged in anyhow, i havent tried it without, but it runs rock solid stable so just left it as you see in the picture
