*****Official ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA thread*****

:p
What kind of improvements have you observed so far? Thinking of switching to this from my ageing P5W DH, which is from the same stone age as your old P5B:D

Do you think I can get 4GB OCZ DDR2 8000 and squeeze 4Ghz out of my Q6600 on air 24/7 (probably Noctua NH-U12P)?

Had another go tonight @ 3.8 got her stable though was a little on the toasty side using 1.6v. The Q6600 was cooking at around 75-75-72-71 (at peak prime95). Doubt youll keep it cool enough @ 4GHZ on air. 3.8 is very much the limit, held back by cooling though, not the board.
All in all very nice, you'd see a big difference I'm sure!

Thanks. What's your memory, I still plan to use my trusty 4GB Corsair XMS2 6400 C4 and hope it will see me through 3.6 at least. Just ordered the Rampage to go along with Noctua NH-U12P and some AS5, should be here tomorrow, can't wait :p

I'm using 4GB(2X2GB) OCZ Reaper PC8500.
PC6400 corsair should see you to 3.6 (400*9), dont go being greedy now :p

OoO - am about to install my Rampage, arrived at 8am this morning (just finishing backup of misc crap to DVD) Fingers Crossed...... hopefully will be back soon :D

Got mine set up on the desk at the moment. Just playing around with it before putting it in case under water. Have QX9650 sitting under its retail cooler. Not done any OCing yet so can't comment on that.
Tried setting up a raid install from windows but in Vista64 you don't get the press F6 prompt to install 3rd party drivers. (has anyone done this?)
Using upgrade disk to do clean install

Got mine set up no problem, still running my 'old' Vista install - set up the raid in BIOS and hey presto it booted. Probably helps that I was coming from an asus Blitz formula which is very similar (P35 chipset) - vista detected the change in hardware no problem, all I had to do was reactivate...

Yes I know I should "clean build" but I wanted to get things going again asap and couldnt be arsed with installing all software again :p

is there any chipset specific (X48) software I need to install ? The stuff on the Rampage support site under the "Chipset" section doesnt look very new....

Got myself a Tuniq tower CPU cooler to go with (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-002-SB) installed with the obligatory AS5. OMG it has knocked off a fair bit temps wise over my previous intel stock cooler... and Sooo much quieter :D and this is with Zero Airflow in the case lol (still to connect up case fans)

Still a bit of work to do in the case, but, first impressions - , very pleased, even as an 'upgrade' to my Asus Blitz.

Mine's now up and running with 0403 BIOS :D

Got it running a Xeon 3350 at 3.5 at 1.2v and under 60 degrees C

Just started playing with the corsair memory (4gb Dominator twin X 8500C5D)

Not sure on safe temps on the NB/SB though.

This Board ROCKS, Had mine about 3 weeks now , dropped in my q6600 and clocked it up to 3.6Ghz (450*8) all on origional shipped bios. Temps are 35c idle and 51c full load , had prime running for over 24 Hours and its rock solid stable , same chip on a 680i would not run over 3.2Ghz..

Happy as a pig in **** i am :)

This board is really good, had a nightmare for about a month after getting the asus striker II extreme could not get stable at stock let alone an overclock. So decided to give up on it (although I had 2 x 8800 ultra's for sli :( ) but then I decided to give the Rampage a go and I must say top board and clocked to 3.7 after only a few changes and a few reboots and now running fine ever since. Only thing I am now faced with a tough decision 1 top of the range (new) gfx card or 2x ATI for crossfire. Never used crossfire or ATI for that matter so can they be as good as nvidia ???

Hey, just got the board the other day.

Few concerns... Say I were to alter a voltage setting in the bios then save and exit, I'm finding that it will turn off then start again but will hang on cpu init or en setup. If I turn the pc off and leave it for say 2-5 mins then try to boot its all fine and it runs at the voltage I set earlier fine.

Same thing happens if I try to clear cmos, I have to wait 2-5 mins before being able to boot.

Anyone else getting this?

Spec - E6600, OCZ Reaper HPC 4096Mb (2x2048Mb) PC2-8500, 8800gtx, 2x750gb samsung F1 Raid0

I've an issue where some settings won't load windows from a reboot, but are grand after a cold boot.

I've agreed to sell it anyway as it's **** for overclocking my Q9450.

Rampage is one of the best X48 boards made, It clocks Q9450's and all 45nm extremly well, You'll be hard pressed to find anything better. Even the blackops tops out at pretty much the same FSB.

Hello All,

I think i have finally decided 100% this mobo is for me

Quick rundown on specs (can post all if needed)

Abit IP35 Pro
Q6600 @ 3.2
DDR2 8500 @ 1068

SB X-FI xtremgamer (worth using this or the onboard ??)

Watercooling kit cooling

Now, I am waiting for the ATI 4870's so i can Crossfire in 2x16

Questions .......

Any revisions of this board ??
What bios has been found best with quads ?
Bios options similar to abits or easier/harder ??

Really dunno whether to goto shop tomorrow and get it or wait til cards are out

Any advice much appreciated

Ciao

Yes I have one of these boards. I bought it by sheer chance really as at the time a thermaltake psu took out my 790i board so I bought a board to fill in as a stopgap.

Has been reliable and stable and besides peoples concern (including mine) about the chipset running hotter than most has worked without issues for me.

The 8 pin ATX 12v socket posistion is toss though and the lcd poster I find to be a useless gimmick. The supplied soundcard is adequate and if you don't have to deal with the drivers from hell hereby now referred to as creative then it a plus in my book.

I have read their were some issues with mem compatiability on the asus forums. But I just bought a set of gskills 4 gig kit slapped them in and even though they were running below voltage recommended by manufacturer it worked straight out of the box. Never botherd updating the bios as everything seem to work fine so didn't want to risk flashing it.

It has been a good board for me but YMMV. It's too expensive though.
