*****Official ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA thread*****

What temps are you getting at the clock speed paul?

it tops out at about 52c however i dont trust my temps at all as they've never been right on my e8400. (thats with pc probe) if there right is wicked but i'd guess its a bit more than that.

core temp give me 58 and 54 on the cores.

Nb never really moves, stays aroung 50 @ idle to 54 under hours of prime. goes up to about 60 under gaming but i'm putting that down to the stupid amount of heat coming of my 3870x2 making the whole case hot!!

I know the gfx power leads are not in properly in the pics. I even turned it on like that! It did not like it at all! haha. still works though!

have you give the ram correct volts, and up the n/bridge slightly.

my rampage runs ocz reapers 1066 @ 1200 and can go up to just over 1300mhz for benching.

never had a problem with them.

what settings have you got you ram on to get 1200, mine will not post past 1000 no matter what i do?? what timings have you got it at to get 1200?

Do people recon i could get a 4.0Ghz OC on the system in my sig, with this mobo, and what volts would i need??

dont know about you rig but this board gave me no more mhz on my E8400 but gave me loads more on the FSB when from 410 to 500 on this board with the same volts?

i'm not 100% sure on this but as far as i know a faster fsb makes everything talk to each other much faster.

All my clocks are as per my old board (in fact the ram is running a bit slower) but i got an extra 2000 points in 3d mark06 just with a faster fsb?? i ran it 2 or 3 times and got the same every time to make sure it wasn't a 1 off!

Got mine working yesterday, all lights are green, and the drivers are installed, looking good so far, still need to test it all out tonight, etc.

I have all green lights apart from the Nb had to put that up to 1.55 for hold a 500mhz fsb!

So would it be worth we swapping my Abit IP35 Pro out for this board then with the setup in my sig?? The Mofsets on my board are stopping me hit 3.6-3.8 on the IP35 Pro without having stupid temps and volts!!!

I've just done that myself to, albeit a maximus formula, but i had done the bolt mod on my abit ip35pro so temps weren't an issue anymore.

However, I can now clock to the same speeds as before but with 0.25 - 0.5v less and managed to get it stable at 3.9Ghz last night whereas I wasn't 100% stable at 3.8Ghz on my ABit.

I have a feeling there is more in my cpu yet as still only up to 1.55v in bios (watercooled) so may hit the 4Ghz yet :D

Cool, that are your temps like at that voltage?

Pants. Going to reseat the waterblock at the weekend.

Hitting 80c in core temp after a few hours of prime. :(

Even at 3.4Ghz and 1.35v it hits 60C+ and idles in the 40's wheres before on my abit mobo at 1.5v it never went above the high 60's so something wrong somewhere

has anyone tried the new 0601 bios yet? not sure about using it as everything is ok. might give me faster OC though?

Not tried it myself yet either.

Was still getting random bsod till i disabled legacy usb support in bios. Seems to have helped as not had one since :)

Its for usb keyboard support if you use a non windows based system...ie DOS.

Leaving it on seemingly causes some memory problems on some boards.

Hi All,

I've finally put my new system together which is shown at the top of my signature. I'm running the 8400 at stock and getting idle temperatures of around 37' in RealTemp and 42' in CoreTemp. Are these reasonable given good airflow and the TRUE?

At Full Load, the temps go up around 50'.

Will start overclocking in earnest once these temps are understood

What vcore are you running at according to cpu-z?
Idle temps dont really mean anything but 50c under (orthos/prime?) load at stock does seem a bit high to me.
Set the voltage manually in bios rather than leave set at auto.
