Great drive from Max who should never have been that near to the McLaren.

Dreadful first drive for Lewis, is he past it now or does it really take time to get used to the car. I remember his first season taking it to Alonso, he got used to his new car pretty quickly then.

Team tactics were once again out at Ferrari and the relationship with the team seems miles short.

Long way to go, Norris and Piastri need to pile up early points whilst their car is so dominant
Without the rain, Max probably would have finished 3rd given McLaren's superior tyre management. Thankfully he's able to make a challenge, and hopefully RB can sort out their car.

I think Lewis did better than expected. Finishing just behind Charles, keeping an unfamiliar car on track in tricky conditions - not to forget dealing with Ferrari's typical strategy circus.

Will have to see whether McLaren get reined in with the mini-DRS changes for China.

I don't think Lewis will be overly happy with his weekend, but he wasn't far behind Leclerc in quali, and I doubt there was more than a place or two on offer with the Ferrari strategic fail around the timing of the tyre change. It was in the worst conditions that he was actually best, which suggests to me that he's still got it even if he needs longer to get used to that car.

Not so much for Lewis and other experienced hands, but I really think they need to increase the amount of testing available and return to ninety minute practice sessions. There just isn't enough time on track for rookies to adapt to their cars and new tracks; and not enough testing time for teams to develop and catch up with the cars in front.

I think it is too early to say with Lewis. I believe there is still a champion inside that helmet, but he's very sensitive to requiring a car that he feels he can push in. Merc sometimes delivered that over the last few seasons in super optimal windows, like the Silverstone win. Right now, the Ferrari looks like it just lacks grip even with Charles behind the wheel. It doesn't get to the apex easily and seems to understeer, especially in turns 11 and 12 lower speed corners.

Could be a fundamental part of the design of the car. Maybe to do with Ferrari secretive sacrifice this weekend. Maybe them getting to grips with the front end suspension change.

It's hard to draw too many conclusions with the weather but China should be dry (and hopefully with no SC's) so will give a better idea of running order and pace.

I really hope so. I want 4 top teams (ideally their 8 drivers too, but... Lawson is a bit too Perez) to be taking points away from each other. Would be awesome to have numerous championship lead swaps over the year.

I wish they would say definitely what was the issue in Australia, but i guess there are reasons for not giving that away...at least just yet.

I read a rumour that it was due to having to raise the car due to excessive plank wear but i dont think its been confirmed.
