*** Official Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread ***

Great, just signed back on and all my stats have reset to zero. Played a game and didn't realise and after it said "updating stats" or something I had nothing.

No different than a bolt action sniper rifle.

And if you don't like being one shot killed by it, wear body armor.

How did you work that out? A bolt action sniper rifle is designed to be a devastating long range weapon. Its a shotgun ffs made worse by the fact that unlike every other weapon on HC it still has cross-hairs.

Well not quite sure how you can claim it was 800 yards, since there's no way of actually measuring of course..

But a good slug gun will easily get 100 yards with good accuracy in real life, and has a very high muzzle velocity which will allow it to travel much further, but with less and less accuracy of course.

From my experience using them on BC2, I've never killed anyone from any distance I'd guess at being close to 800 yards. If I were to try and imagine 100 yards in the game I'd bet it would come up about right.

Yeah I agree the crosshair is somewhat cheaty. But you can't use the ironsight on the shotgun so that's why it's there.

My point about the shotgun vs sniper rifle comparison is they deal the same damage. So even if the shotgun wasn't there you'd still get killed by the sniper rifle.

And to use the shotgun effectively at range takes lots of practice. There's no 12x scope and you need to lead the target sufficiently.

Thing is though I have no issue with being picked off by a sniper, its normal and to be expected. Being picked off by a shotgun at the same range though is just poor weapon balancing. After afew shots to get used to it I found it so much easier to use than a sniper rifle. Seemingly no bullet drop to account for, crouch, cross-hairs on target, dead. Still I guess the only bonus of playing a team like that is they were terrible and defending as they spent all round trying to camp the spawn points and leaving the M-Comm stations wide open :D

Except it's very different, given that a sniper rifle is actually designed for those sorts of ranges, whereas a shotgun...isn't.

Sabot slug rounds which the game specifically mentions, harness the energy from the gun but uses a smaller projecticle for improved flight characteristics to increase range.

Anything beyond 250m you would struggle to see in this game anyway.

Personally I think snipers hate slugs because they take offence to being outgunned by somebody not using a scope.

How about putting a crosshair on the mounted guns then or the grenade laucher. The mounted guns are stupid as its random firing to begin with and hard to track helicopters.

They should at least have an ironsight for the mounted guns

How is having a realistic weapon poor weapon balancing

I have said it is possible, and someone else has even shown it to be possible with a video. There will be bullet drop if you shoot over a longer distance, like with any bullets.

The Peasants are revolting! I don't know why some players bother joining public squads when they only want members to play in a certain way. They won't say anything though they just resort to counter productive griefing.

Seemed to be a lot of Magnum snipers tonight too, to give them their proper title.

I had a very frustrating night. First I joined a team with a mate and EVERYONE including my mate () was a sniper except me. And to make it worse despite having 11 guys no one covered me once, even when I planted by myself.

Then it got worse. We had a team killer who was taking us and the objectives out. I had to spend the rest of the game following this sad little man about and keep shooting him in the face with a tracer to protect my team. And he complains to me about it.... He was lit up like a christmas tree :D

No one was even close to planting on this game of Rush on the hated Port Valdez. The Second stage A MCOM was only taken by destruction and since no one was paying attention to the UAV I was taking B since the rest couldn't even get around the corner.

Half way through an apparent x8 BF Vet on my squad decides to blow up the UAV station. I did get B solo eventually, but damned if he didn't do it again when you need to cover the Apache spawning.

I don't make a habit of constantly using the UAV, but it's dire not to at least get to the third stage. I would have tracered this guy too, but I needed them for the Heli. That's the only way I can cover someone's back after they've done something like that.

The long level that has the bases at either end with tanks and apaches is just unplayable now. What's with allowing opposite teams being able go easily wander into your base, take the apache meaning the have both, and do that endless circling crap over your base, ya can't do this in other game modes as you just die from running out of bounds, so why that one?

That's the point, ya don't get a chance, they can just constantly circle at your base, ya can't move outside, killed instantly, can't get to the anti aircraft guns, and rocket launchers are pretty much hopeless. It makes absolutly now sence in the game to do that.

Flying the helicopters well isn't an easy task really (well some people might say it is :p), so if the pilot can do this without being shot down then fair play.

Yes I've had this happen to my team too, but unless your team are all total half-wits you should be able to shoot him down eventually, through a mix of rockets and AA guns. He can only be looking in one place at one time.
