GAME INFO
BioShock 2 is the sequel to BioShock, and is designed to continue the grand storyline of the underwater metropolis, Rapture. It is scheduled for release February 9, 2010. BioShock 2 will capitalize and improve upon the high-quality effects, unique gameplay elements, and immersive atmosphere that defined the first game. It has been confirmed that Irrational Games is not developing the game. Instead, 2K Marin is the developing team. Initially, a spokesperson for 2K Games[2] stated that the "Sea of Dreams" subtitle had been dropped. It was revealed that the subtitle was simply the title of the first teaser trailer, and not a subtitle for the game

PLOT
Set on New Year's Eve of 1970, ten years after the events of BioShock,[15] Rapture is now under the control of a woman named Sofia Lamb, whose ideas of human progression contrasts with the city's deceased founder, Andrew Ryan. While Ryan believed in the genius of the individual, Lamb believes in collective effort and the power of the community, as well as a philosophy surrounding butterfly imagery, indicating some kind of rebirth. This message is spread by a deranged ex-priest named Father Wales, who has created a cult-like religion around Sofia. During Sofia's rule, a mysterious figure known as the Big Sister, an ex-little sister outfitted with Big Daddy armour, harboured herself in Rapture, capturing little girls across the coastline to turn them into Little Sisters. Now, the original Big Sister has disappeared, and the remaining Big Sisters are employed by Sofia to keep order in the city.

Out in JUST 17 days! Cannot wait! :)

Neither can i...am really hoping that this is as good as the first one or even better..first one truly rocked. Still it could get a 5/10 and id still get it lol.

I would have got the limited edition but i think ill stick with the normal copy...plus theres no figurine which would have swayed me towards one.

The first one was a bit of an anti climax with it's vintage generic boss fight at the end. If there's one thing they have to do better on its that. Although I would have preferred a prequel for the main story rather than the multiplayer, but I guess there's always next time.

Been playing through the first game again ahead of this and just finished Fort Frolic, best level on the game without a doubt. Great news that the team behind that level are in charge of the entire BS2 :)

Good shout on the ''Official thread" Tom :)

Can't wait for this. I've started the first one on hard again and realised why I love this game so much. There is so much attention to detail.
I've purposely been staying away from all in-game previews and detailed information.

That Siren Alley Trailer makes me sad - this game does appear to be as I feared, just some 'mech pilot' affair, the game seems to have taken a huge swing away from sneaking around the creepy horror, into an all-out action packed shoot fest :(

I think it should have been optional to play the big daddy in this one, as I am really put off by the prospect – I’ll leave the decision to buy down to a demo now.

I enjoyed the setting and the story to some degree even though the actual gameplay was rubbish.

I hope they have done more with the AI this time rather than just have them run at you, I hope you have some sort of penalty for actually dieing this time. Hopefully the mini game is not over used as well.

Hopefully the good/evil story has a bit more depth than pressing X on a sister or Y.

The game sound was fantastic.

Hmm i dont think going back to rapture again is going to have the same effect as the first game did,i think this will be good but not as good as the first, but who knows

I'm still yet to play the first one.

May go and download the demo right now though..

Do it! It's awesome.

I cant wait for this! Thinking of getting the collector's edition as I like the 'style' of Rapture and it seems to be a bit about it in that. And also it's cool to have :D
Just started playing the first one again on hard mode as a preparation!

I'll get this when the price drops a bit. Really enjoyed the first one, as mentioned the sound effects were great. On a 5.1 system you can play the game with just sound as it's so easy to locate the enemy due to the noise they make.

As for the Demo, the BS demo was nothing like the full game. Infact the demo put me off the game after all the rave reviews i heard about it. Think it was cause you only had a spanner which was daunting against the splicers. Once you level up and start hacking stuff it becomes good fun running about kn

I'm really not sure whether to buy or wait for 2nd hand. 360 games lose so much value these days after even a week and once I go through the single player it's not worth holding onto.

Can't wait to get my hands on this.
The first one scared the carp outta me, it was so atmospheric.
Dystopia (done right) is always a win in my book.
Good job on starting the thread Tom.
Would you kindly keep us posted to any breaking news you may hear or stuff of general interest. ;)
