*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

Is anyone else playing through with the drill-only tonic? Coupling that with some of the more hard-core plasmids (namely freeze) makes it quite fun and pretty easy to kill the Big Daddies, Sisters and Alpha's. The freeze plasmid helps with gathering research too.

Finally got round to completing this, finished a min ago with a nice ending, I saved all lil sisters but harvested with all of them as well. Also saved everyone I had the chance to so got the saviour achievement also got the 100 diaries one as well, bit shocked at that as I swore I missed a couple, but not bad for a first playthrough.

Most of the achievements left are for multiplayer, which I can't be bothered with. As a game in a whole, not bad, bit bland and environments had nothing new. I still prefer the 1st without question :D

Finished this tonight and very much enjoyed it. As good as the first? Not quite but some very nice but subtle differences that made it enjoyable. Missed the Researcher achievement because I missed the smallest amount of research possible on the Big Daddies, grrr! Will play through it again but like the first one I'll wait a few months before doing so.

Taking that BS1 came out in 2007 the visuals are miles ahead of BS2. The shere number of extra little effects and touches here and there just bring Rapture to life, unlike BS2 which felt very plain and boring.

I read somewhere that the reason some parts have really bad graphics is because they increased the number of mobs and how rapidly they spawn or something along those lines.. I'll link if I can find it again.

And I guess I was lucky, I got the master gatherer trophy in Dyonisus Park after rescuing my first sister there.

2K games has announced that the first set of downloadable content for Bioshock 2 - the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack - will be emerging from the briny depths in March. But if you haven't yet finished the single-player for the game then don't panic - it's focused primarily on the multiplayer portion.

For starters, there's a rank increase up to 50, complete with rank rewards. New playable characters have been added - Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca - and there's 20 new trials to complete. A third upgrade has been provided for each weapon, and there's five additional masks. Some of that lot, however, is only available to players above level 40.

If you're more a fan of the single-player part of the game, then you might also like to know that 2K has some extra content planned for there too. The company is promising "more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea".

The DLC will cost 400 Microsoft Points to buy on Xbox 360 or on Games For Windows Live. On the PS3, it'll cost £3.19 on the Playstation Network.

^^ Great news. Can't wait.

Today I completed it again for the second time, this time round killing/harvesting everything one in sight! :)
I have to say, I really enjoyed the second play through. There were a couple of rooms I missed first time around. I preferred the darker ending.

I've been playing mutliplayer quite a bit, level 17 now.

Well I managed to fix the calibrated monitors losing LUT issue I mentioned before without any help from 2kGames...

It meant ditching my software's LUT loader and using the Windows 7 loader built into Windows. I actually did this change due to upgrading software but in the process realised it might solve the Bioshock 2 problem too which it did so no more restarts needed!

mrk's entered the console forums  :p

My copy is on it's way.

Without too many spoilers, is there anything I need to watch for when I pay it through.

Would like to do everything I can in one run if possible? I plan to save the game often.

Apart from those who you have to kill to progress save EVERYONE ;)

Also play through on HARD, Disable Vita-Chambers from the start, Research EVERYTHING before you move on, and search everywhere for Diaries.

Make sure if possible to have everything reasearched before leaving fontaina. Save every 20 minutes with a complete new save. Get as many diaries as you can using a guide because once you hit 100 you can forget about the rest meaning the game goes much faster.

You stop having to look everywhere.

I think the Audio Diary's are great, I listened to every single one that I found and there are literally loads in the last level

All of Fontaine's are especially epic but "Goodbye to Fontaine" is without doubt the best :)

Sweet cheers.

I was going to find them all on Bioshock 1 at the end, but only realised that I had only got 2 of the 3 that you can't get later to late into my playthrough.

Can you go back in this one like in Bioshock 1 (bar the 3 I mentioned).

Definately going to do it on hard, BS1 was too easy once you had ranked up a bit.

OMG he's arrived  (sorry about crap pictures)

Trust me when I say the above is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my Bioshock merchandise :D

Why do you need to disable vita chambers?

How many endings are there? From what Ive read there are 2 bad endings but one is worse than the other and a good ending. Is this right or is it just a bad and good ending?
