****Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 thread****

Just watched most of the video. EVERYTHING is the same. The animations, the sounds, the weapons, the way enemies behave. Hell, even the darn weapon pickup icons and text are reused. If it was coming from another game you could say "If it ain't broke don't fix it." but it's coming from COD, so it's clearly a "Let's get away with doing as little work as possible and tards will still buy it".

This isn't MW3, it's MW2.1

But this formula, of copy/paste has worked several times now. Admitedly, this game could be the turning point, especially with BF3. But if you go off past experience, doing anything different they would get slated for messing with a winning formula.

You can not please everyone.

That's laughable, they would certainly be not slated for creating a better game engine, making the game look and sound more realistic or providing better support for PC gamers.

Oh, I agree totally. It's sold a massive amount and is remarkably successful revenue-wise. I just hope that gamers now take a stand, because the franchise is going downhill fast and we're being flogged for our cash. I'd go so far as to say that BO, with its falsified reviews, broken gameplay and non-refundableness, was actually fraudulent. It's not COD in itself - if that dies I couldn't care less - moreover it is what impact the continued massive sales of a sub-par product would do to the rest of the market.

I don't want rinse and repeat, half-broken and overpriced, non-refundable games to be the big hitters for the next ten years.

Only if you assume (which you seem to) different = better, it doesnt, it just means different. Define a better gaming engine, prettier? Theres plenty of war games that look and feel more realistic (arma) that dont translate well to a general audience.

Change for changes sake should not be applied unless it improves the experience, but that is ofcourse subjective to the gamer. Who ultimatley is right is defined by the sales. End of story.

True, but the non-refundable part applies to any steam game. I do accept your point about it being over priced and buggy (specifically black ops).

A better gaming engine is something more modern that looks realistic, is capable of rendering some nice dynamic lighting effects, supports high resolution textures, allows for partial map destruction, I don't know, I could go on and on, many things could be changed in the current, very outdated engine that MW uses.

The ARMA example is a bit of a miss considering that it's a PC exclusive and a niche genre after all. It is somehow popular but doesn't attract casual gamers and its engine isn't exactly well optimised (albeit it can look really realistic at times).

A different game engine doesn't necessarily mean any changes to the gameplay so that's not an argument. It would require resources though, time and money that IW/Activision clearly don't want to spend on any technological advancements.

I don't think some gameplay changes would not be welcome, this game isn't anything special any more and it's just milking money from a once great series.

The sales are ultimately defined by successful marketing, end of story.

I have had to tell quite a few of my mates in work to buy BF3 and not COD MW3. They ask if i am getting BF3 and when i tell them yes but on PC ( i have ps3 xbox 360 too ) they ask why??
Most are too ignorant to understand why. So i seldom bother explaining why for the umpteenth time :)

But no doubt they will follow the rest of the sheep and buy COD MW3.
Last COD i enjoyed was COD4. The others after that, meh.

I will keep on to them NOT to buy the next COD. I wont hold my breath tho.

From the videos it literally looks like MW2 with a few new maps, maybe some new weapons, new perks and kill streaks. The gun play, movement, everything looks exactly the same.

Am I missing something here?

It's a shame the series went downhill after MW1, MW2 and Black ops were both crap, despite selling loads, I guess we have consoles to thank for that. Activision will never learn so long as people keep buying in to these games in such enormous numbers, and I can imagine they will milk this engine even going in to the next gen of consoles.

Hmm it is very disappointing.

I really only started playing at Mw2 - Missed cod 4 entirely and WAW both of which i think id like to have tired BUT....

if id played WAW i would have thought Blops was just a tired reskin of it... which by all accounts it is.

Now MW3 will be the first cod game ive played that looks like its a remake...

TBH i want to play the campaign as its an interesting story/film plot fair enough.

Multi-player... well i thought about it for a while and tbh "killing noobs is killing noobs" it doesn't really matter if it was HL or quake 2 or UT3 the immense satisfaction you get from an irate teenager or school child tells you are a hacker etc is what it is all about.

Its just a mass market cash cow designed to run on medium hardware and consoles i dont think anyone was truly expecting that much more?? The reason it looks even worse is the 2 year cycle which amplifies the crappiness even more....

Anyone for a game of MW2 ??
