****Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 thread****

Yeah the COD4 map pack was very high quality indeed, so I don't think us PC gamers should allow ourselves to act spoiled and to expect companies to give away such stuff routinely. Nice when they do, Epic did it with UT2004, EA brought out some free BC2 maps, free NFS Shift 2 DLC etc. but I don't think we should 'expect' it as a right, especially as we are a small part of the games market.

They couldn't have been that good, since most servers only included Chinatown out the four maps in their map rotation.

pretty much anything you do in game will annoy someone.

So, so true.

I don't jump to avoid fire etc. - just to get around. And to get the XP for surviving fall damage when using dead silence pro.

Fair enough. I'm guilty of having a sneaky bunny-hop every now and then, but some players do it during every close encounter and around every corner. That's when it gets cheap. I think everything and anything is fine in CoD, but in moderation. Tubes? Fine as long as you don't tube more than you shoot your darned bullets!

Broadcast, Creek, Chinatown and Killhouse. I've seen them on a lot of servers (indeed the last time I checked there were loads of Killhouse only servers, much like Nuketown on Black Ops).

All high quality anyway whether played as much as some of the others, I would say.

Do people play this game anymore? Just randomly found this thread buried a few pages back on PC games.....46,000 replies to the BF3 thread and 1500 for this :p

I was considering buying MW3 but it appears people have finally seen the light?

I'd rather play this than BF3. If you like COD you'll like this, pick it up and play, you don't need a phd in warfare tactical gpu's lol. Played BF3 and didn't like it, didn't like BF2 either, but hey, each to their own.

I have a similar opinion to this. I wasn't a huge fan of the Battlefield series and Battlefield 3 didn't do much to sway me.

MW3 is very good. Started the campaign at the weekend too and enjoying it as well.

Hmm two maps? :D I wonder what the PC will get exactly. A pack of two maps for say £5? They wouldn't dare charge £12 for that would they? Or will they wait until they have six maps and release it all at once later on in the year.

Waiting til after my exams before I install, regularly played cod4 for the last few years so looking forward to seeing the big jump from that to mw3 :)

Is there much of an OcUK community playing? Or any servers which are definitely worth visiting?

The map design since IW have left is dreadful. I wasnt a big fan of MW2 and hated the whole p2p thing but the maps were fun to play and well thought out for good battles like all the IW COD games have been. But MW3 the maps don't have any fluidity in them at all, it just seems that they think good map design is to place as much junk on the map as possible. It seems everywhere you move there is some object in the way completely ruining any sense of momentum, its just impossible to get into any kind of rhythm.

I bought MW3 in the hope that at least it would be fun to blast with now and again. I played it for about 1 hour on total and its just.... meh

I remember going down to gamestation in November 2003 to buy the first one, to think what it has now become just makes me sad, and mad at Activision.

Everytime I see that **** Robert Bowling I just want to plant my fist through his nose.

Just completed this, fairly short like most COD games (around 5.5hrs) but enjoyable nevertheless. Didn't feel quite up to the standards of MW/MW2 though, not as many dramatic set pieces or variety of missions. I did like the city locations though, it's a shame you didn't get to spend more time (overground) in London. Performance very good overall, running at around 90-180fps.

It will be interesting to see where they take the franchise from here, I think the Modern Warfare arc has run its course and they should try something new, maybe WWI or something a bit further into the future.

Anyone know a cheap place to get this from as I don't want to spend much as will probably play for 5 minutes and go back to Bf3. Does this run through steam automatically?
