***Official Command and Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight Thread***

The first C&C game I will not be buying. I put up with the [sort of] rubbish from Generals on-wards but I'm not parting with a penny to pay for this.

Nice one EA.

I always say that a good way to judge a games success (or lack of) is to see how much forum chatter there is about it.

From what I've seen on most of the forums I read, C&C4 has died before it's been out a week. Hardly anyone is talking about it and those that are have nothing but bad things to say.

/me points to the 200 page long BF BC2 thread :D

Just finished the Nod campaign .... and to confirm, is ****, certianly the worst C&C game ive ever played.

:(:(:(

Maybe a few patches will improve things

Given that the entire dev team were fired (save for a few reassigned) immediately the game was finished, I think we can consider a patch - let alone 'a few patches' - unlikely.

When you take into account that they apparently knew of the impending layoffs since last year, it might shine a little light on why they produced such a disastrous game. I imagine it's hard to care about making the best possible product for your employers when you are well aware that they're going to fire you as soon as you're done.

I just wish I could give this game a try but it seems willing to make me hate it! It took me around seven hours last week to install it and get just the right drivers/directx version that it liked so that I could actually play. I have got onto the second mission of
nod and as soon as I get to a specific part in the level I get disconnected from the ea servers and so my progress can't be saved.

Now I am a massive fan of CnC and I was willing to overlook the always on Internet connection thing because I don't really care (how
many households don't have always on broadband, especially pc gamers?) but if I can't play because I'm getting disconnected which isn't even my fault, it just takes the biscuit!

D.

'Always On' is the problem term here - doesn't actually mean 100% guaranteed connectivity with zero packet loss to any server in the world. There are too many variables that mean a few packets to the EA server gets dropped and it decides that you need to be disconnected. You'd never notice it just browsing the web, maybe a page load times out once and then loads when you refresh it, but for this type of thing it's probably not usually good enough.

That's even without considering how often the EA servers themselves have problems.

Surely that is just too much of an ask for any standard connection? I know why they have done it, I just wish they had done a better job of it. A single check at the start of every mission/load/save would be better.

People are idiots, and we're all doomed :(

Weren't you defending AvP pre-orders in that other thread? :p

Isn't the (general) opinion here now that AvP is sub-standard? Maybe not C&C4 bad, but bad.

The simple fact is, you can't stop people from buying crap, because they liked the last game in the series and can't believe the new one would be anything less that the best thing since sliced bread.

Meanwhile, devs have stopped talking about making games, and started talking about creating "franchises". They've embraced the power of marketing because they know hype and expectation sells games.

im predicting redundancies at EA over this game, its utterly horrendous.

Justice in them ruining C&C will hopefully be served in the sales figures, but i fear tards will buy it just because of the name.
