*** Official Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Thread ***

Just had a bash around for an hour, the maps seem very small atm.
Rounds were over VERY fast.

Plays smoothly tho, the settings section has a worrying amount of console suggestive settings :p
 
Had a few rounds with some friends.
The game could be much better, its still no 1.6
It just feels like Im playing an updated CS Source, still with pretty dated graphics and slightly less clunky gameplay.

The thing I dislike the most though, are the maps.
De_dust2 - Short A is far too open from Mid doors and Lower B.
De_train - Entrance to middle from T spawn is even more of a choke point than before, if there is an awper in CT Archs, he will eat you alive.
De_Inferno - The one change I do like is that they merged window room and stairs all into one. What I'm not so keen on is how cramped the site entrance from banana is.

Will keep giving it a chance, in the hope it doesn't keep digging a grave for the franchise (in my eyes.)
 
another thing too, the reload animations don't match the time it takes to actually reload the weapon. The number of times the animation has completed, and i go storming round the corner only to hit fire and nothing happen is really starting to get on my norks

Sigh.. been playing counter strike since WANID days.. And I didn't get a invite :(, not going to ask for someone to gift one as that's cheeky anyone willing to sell me one?

Been playing for over a decade myself and yet no invite. Sad pate is sad.


I think they've taken a wrong turn with this, just from my initial look.

Source is pretty good, and obviously so is 1.6

I think more of a move (considering how large and loyal the combined fan base is) should have been made to conclusively bring the two together, with a game that both parties would have enjoyed moving to.

Feels like they're tacking on another game, which will only serve to divide the community further and thus dilute the games.

Oh wait, they're bringing it to console, they don't care.
 
Yeah, a few off the guys I know old school counter strike players.. some pro is the 1.6 scene and some in the css scene when there was one in the uk.. They are all telling me that this does seem to be a mash of both games.

They have said the hitboxes are getting better which for me was always a issue with CSS.

I don't really like this "match making" thing.. please valve stop trying to make it a CoD type game.

Am I wrong in thinking though that there is already a counter strike on console? Of course it's **** that's fair enough. They just need the keep the niche in the market that they have..

lol but anyways it isnt firing from the hip as such just think of it as always in ads mode but you just dont see it.
The char models are not firing from hip they are in ads mode, note the lack of ability to sprint supports this.
