Official Crysis Demo thread

why is it when I try to add some of the objects in the editor they dont appear to work? is it just that they arnt included as its a demo version or am i doing something wrong?

I have to say I'm finding the same :( It's pretty dull. I really liked Far Cry. Crysis feels exactly like it but with nicer graphics & a really clumsy combat system. The pace of your character is so plodingly slow. Then you engage 'maximum speed' & suddenly your at warp speed ...... for 2 seconds! The enemy soldiers take about 15 slugs to take down! Are they all wearing nano suits as well? It's just not doing it for me at the moment. It's quite boring & I'm pretty dissapointing with the whole thing. It doesn't feel like we've moved on at all from Far Cry other than nicer graphics.

this is the first level, have you played the rest ? ....you can't judge it from one the first hour.

It could be a bit of both. A lot of the items aren't included in the demo, like you said. However, it could also be that the items aren't liking the location at which you're trying to place them. Try clicking on the "Follow Terrain" button, or the button to the right of that (the one which green bit, blue circle then red line above it). Both of these are just to the right of the "XY" button.

No your right. It's just that first impressions are a little dissapointing. It feels so much like Far Cry it's ...... unreal!! I'll give it another go & see how I get on because I really want to like this game. I remember when I first played Far Cry I really didn't like the combat. It felt very clumsy. But once I got into the game I loved it. I think Far Cry is probably the best FPS ever. Even better than HL2 in fact.

I'm pretty sure these were mentioned just a few posts prior. Also, these maps aren't very "customised". I mean, by the looks of things haven't just a few items been added to the normal Island map?

You get every weapon and vehicle in the game (i think) with map 5.

So I can now do this...

I kinda don't get these kind of comments... I played the COD4 demo (4 people! :P) and people love it, and yet here's the 2nd "Tropical Island" Shooter and people complain about it being too similar to Far Cry when, IMHO, it's far more of an evolvement regarding the Suit, the Weapon Modding, etc... when compared to other series (like COD, etc).

I think/hope a lot of people will think more of the game once they go back and play other games or demos and then come back to this. :)

Just played the modded map, right after you get to the cutscene bit where the bloke hangs from the tree you move on & encounter the flying octopus & some Koreans, couldn't kill it till I got to the beach & jumped in the AA tank ,the map went as laggy as hell & practically ground to a halt,

What are you systems specs?

So then...How many people are using they're own system.cfg file then? To only turn on certain graphical options in the game? :)

I'm trying to make one that will give a nice visual improvement, yet still play well.

Anyone got some lines they wish to share?

Oh and to add to that...I keep trying random cfg files...yet most of them make the lazer dot on the pistol go square...and the flare the Koreans use to get re-enforcements has a square box around it too =P
