Official Crysis Demo thread

Well you don't see any gonads or logs if that's what you're after, it would appear that Koreans just take a dump by being in the out house and nothing more :p

Also another video I like, when you hit the VTEC button this happens :D

Here's how it looks on mine now with min 30fps :D

Found some settings that make it run and look great (for my machine) 1280x720, all high except shadows, shaders and sound on medium
-X1800XT 2gig, X2 [email protected]

will be buying it

Shadows and object quality is all that matters when Ive tested. I put both of those down and the rest are high, works ok on a 8600gts

Any idea how will its going to run on my other system? Don't mind dropping to low/medium settings - Athlon64 3200+, 2Gb ram, Radeon X850 XT?

It'll scale just fine imo

I loved this demo early on, but now i'm finding both the demo and this thread is making me nausious with all the whinging and same old repetitive pap. Honestly a monkey can put weps and tanks in this game ffs.

As good as the game looks i'm pretty worried about 3 main things: The fact the AI is actually a bit pants on all difficulties, and the best part of the full game is set in a frozen world. I'm also worried the multiplayer will just not work, i can smell the spam already. My entire scope of interest in this is waning off heavily with me now :(

I do love the editor and engine though, as buggy as it is, i've by far had more fun in the editor than in the game demo, i thought it was visually stunning but the gameplay was heavily shallow, looking back i felt like i was playing a polished turd to be honest.

Well... i've played through the demo twice now, once on hard and again on normal and messing about inbetween.

I hate it... i really do. As far as i can tell its worse then far cry. As soon as the enemy runs into the bushes i cant see them to save my life. As soon as i run in the bushes i cant see the enemy, but they can still track me down and spot me as soon as i break cover. Ive put 1000's of rounds from a jeep's machine gun "almost" where a soldier was, and not killed him. I've been spotted by a patrol boat out in the bay as i crept past a window in a hut miles away.

But all thats minor, i just have terrible trouble accurately aiming at any distance. Ok, i dont have the sniper scope or anything near, but it still wasnt fun. There just wasn't enough sensitivity in the aiming. (im resisting the urge to yell console gimped right here)

But i did like the bit where you can topple logs down on top of the passing guards. There wasn't enough of that stuff though, and it didnt always work so well. Did enjoy the AI having a soldier shoot at the spot where i had been cloaked, as i snuck up behind and super strength punched their heads off.

It's wierd though. I've been playing the MP beta, and at first i found that way too fast paced, the weapons far to inaccurate and the whole gameplay too confusing... but i like it now. The demo plays a lot like it, and yet seems harder then the MP to me at times... odd.

I think one word sums up what you wrote rather nicely. Noob.

How do you display your frame rate whilst playing the demo? Be interesting to see what I'm getting because it appears to be running very smoothly with pretty much everything on MEDIUM. If the frame rates are high I'll try upping the settings a little.

FRAPS :)

You can use fraps but why not use your eyes to judge the frame rate?, turn a couple of things up and if it's still playable, turn up some more till you feel framerate is starting to detract from your ability to "play" the game.

I just thought .. Do you think this is the most replied to thread in the history of OCUK forums ?

Random Pictures thread had over 400 pages before it got locked due to massive size. A second thread was made but some halfwits ruined it before it even took off. This is probably the most popular thread outside of that one though. Not bad for a game that is apparently just a tarted up Farcry with pants AI that refuses to run on anyone's computer properly, eh ?
