bizzaro... i thought that was the purpose of this god awful interface and chat system with no mouse control... so that we're all on equal footing when it comes to gaming

Lol...there's going to be a number of servers just like there was for beta. we had 4 servers for the PC and 3 for the PS3.

We don't know how many there'll be come launch but I wouldn't be surprised if there was 3 PVE and 1 PVP for each platform. Plus it'll be kinda odd to have someone who uses a PC playing someone who uses a PS3.

are the PvP servers a full on free for all faction vs faction type ruleset ? and can you still have some PvP on the other servers ? cheers

still debating whether or not to try this game, by all accounts the beta has been quite good and the game will be released in a playable state unlike a lot of rushed MMo's..

In PVE mode, at least during beta, they had a 5min PVP ring war that took place by LexCorp Tower. And this I think starts when you're around level 5 onwards. On the PVP servers, I think it's when you hit level 10 you're permanently flagged for pvp. So get ready for pure gankage lol.

And you can still pvp in the pve server just by typing /pvp and wait for a villain to do the same and you can do battle.

I cancelled my pre-order, simply because i don't have confidence that the game will be in the state i'd like it to be come a weeks time. I will buy it, but ill need to be satisfied that the direction they took with the last months patches is either going to be turned around or they'll start improving from there. They really took a step back over the past month IMO, but overall the game as potential to be brilliant, better than it's two other superhero predecessors.

This is the same reason for me too. Since the massive patch back in early Dec, the game became sluggish and unplayable and the fun was taken out of it. They have been doing small patches here and there since they announced the release date. And judging by last night's not so epic Battle Of The Legends, my guess is, the game is going to either bomb on launch or get better as time goes on. Since beta has now ended, I think they will patch the game like crazy.

Personally, they should put the game back to what it was before the massive patch. Back then, it was awesomely playable, fun to be in and raids were awesome. Speaking of raids, I hope they bring back Batcave and Brainiac Sub-Construct cos they rocked along with the Outer Caverns.

Really liked the beta but the fact they arent going to be putting in PS3/PC cross platform servers in has made me decide to not pre order, was the main buying point for me as my brother is getting it on PS3 and i wanted to play with him but cant do that now.

to be honest, I am not suprised there is no cross platform for this game. When it was announced it was for PC and PS3, this was my main worry and I couldn't imagine the PC version of the game being almost the same as the PS3 version. Thankfully it isn't a port which means the PC version will be and is more suitable to that platform. I've heard from people who have tried both PS3 and PC version who have said the PC one is better in terms of playability and gameplay and graphics. It's the same as getting say COD: Modern Warfare and playing people who have consoles. It just wouldnt feel right, which is why we have dedicated servers for such games. And Sony and DC made the right choice in having seperate servers for each platform otherwise, I can guarantee many PC users wouldn't have bothered getting the game if it was cross platform. Me included. Which would have been a bad move on Sony's part.

how does raiding work in this game. usual comp of tank dps and healers?

what are the sizes of the party sizes? 5 10 25?

sorry my last mmorpg was wow lk which i quit :P. was thinking of picking this game up when its released but wanna know what the endgame setup is like

You have alerts and raids in this game. Alerts involve getting a group of 4 people. They must consist of 1 dps, 1 tank, 1 controller and 1 healer. Make sure you all know what each is doing, stick together and you will complete the alert with awesome success. Be sure to do the Hard version of the alerts cos they are the ones that give out a lot of marks of triumphs (6 for each player) and 1 mark of distinction (if that particualr alert is a daily). This was in beta, so not sure if this will change come live launch. The suggested dominance for a hard alert is 200. So make sure you have gear that gives a lot of dominance to ensure victory.

Raids are where you have 8 people. Ideally you want 2 tanks, 2 dps, 2 controllers and 2 healers. However, for the Outer Caverns I've been in a group where we had 1 tank, 2 controllers, 3 healers and 2 dps. The tank would do most of the work whilst everyone else can help out where needed. The reason we had one tank was cos he had a lot of HP and dominance. The suggested dominance for raids is 350. My main character ended up with 400 dominance. So it gives you an idea of what's needed.

What I will say about raids is that before you do a raid you need the following to successfully complete it:

1. whilst levelling to 30, pick up as many purple gear as possible. When you do missions whilst levelling you will get awesome gear to use for the next mission.
2. after you've hit 30, complete the regular alerts (not the hard ones) to pick up more purple gear. These alerts include Hive Moon Base, Gorilla Island and Bludhaven.
3. After you've gotten as many purple gear for lvl 30 from alerts, get the duos completed. These will give out even better purple gear for which you will need to do the hard alerts.
4. The gear you pick up from hard alerts will help you complete them more efficiently and not only that, you will pick up marks of triumph (you also get two marks of triumphs from doing the duos). Then you can start working on getting these to get the tier iconic gears.
5. After you've picked up a full set of tier 1 iconic armour, then you're ready to get a group together who also have full tier 1 (and maybe some tier two gear) to take on the raids. Keep working with that group if you can and you can successfully get your marks of distinction (I think you get a total of 10 marks of distinction for completing a raid).

One more thing: after you've levelled to 30 and you still have purple gear from your lower level missions, sell them to get more cash, cos believe me you will need them later on lol. Or you can sell you gear if you get a replacement gear for that particular item. So eg, you pick up a lvl 10 purple weapon, you get to lvl 15 and you get a blue version of that weapon which gives out more dps and hp and others, sell the lvl 10 and keep the lvl 15. If you pick up a purple lvl 15 which gives more points across the board, sell the blue one. And so on and so forth :)

So there ya have it. To conclude, remember when doing duos and hard alerts you can get a total of 8 triumphs when you've completed them and 10 distinctions for completing a raid. Do these almost near perfect and you could have your full tier 2 gear within a month of playing DCUO.

How well does this game run? After the mess Champions online programmers did im a bit worried about this one as it look s VERY similer (even the animations).

My spec:
i7 950 (4ghz)
4Gb ram
5870. (play at a res of 1920x1200)

Think i should be able to run it on high with constant 60FPS?

If you take off the Vsync, you can get anything between 100 to 250FPS. I got that whilst playing in beta. and my specs are:

i7 920 4.0GHz
6GB DDR3 RAM
4870X2

Runs really well,

Q6600
4GB Ram
450GTS

My FPS was really good, dont monitor my FPS anymore but the game was playable on full settings.

And CK, i agree that most games i would be put off if it was cross platform but that was the main selling point as my brother refuses to game on PC and id have liked to run through the game with him while he was playing on the PS3 but im still tempted by this as i really liked the beta, was a lot better than champions online.

Is steam still the cheapest place to pick it up?

Steam isn't. HMV is, by about £3. That's where I pre-ordered it from.

that extra 3 pound gets you:

Earlier release - 11th instead of 14th from UK Stores.

Pre-Order unlock - Bane's Venom Injector.

Convenience of having it on steam instead of discs.

Personally like to get whatever games on steam, but for 3 pound i think its a better choice overall.

The pre-order unlock doesn't bother me since I have played beta for 3mths. So I know what to expect from the game. Saying that I have cancelled the order from HMV and went Steam. Purely cos I cannot be bothered to wait until 14th to play it and I am missing it big time lol

Yeah, Pre-order unlocks don't bother me either really.

i was just citing all the differences, obviously the main being 11th of January and no discs or risk of post mix up :)

*edit* when the game is released, would you like to get together, wouldn't mind having somebody who will play consistently as well.

I won't mind doing that. But I think your best bet is joining our league. You'll need to register here first and let them know who you're going to be when the game goes live. We're setting up our own domain for our league which will end up being called DC Raiders.

I just found out we have a Facebook page and YouTube page. So join those if you can and until I've named my character in game (hopefully it's not been taken), I cannot tell you who I will be right now lol.

The game is better when you group up with people. Believe me it is. You can solo as many missions as you can but better to group up. Like I said join our league if you want and we will help out where we can :)

Got it off Steam last night and pre-loaded it. So it's all set to go come Tuesday. Only downside is that when the servers go live at 7am PT (3pm UK) I'll still be at work til 6pm. So won't be able to hop on until at least 7pm. So let's hope no one steals the name I want for my main character :D

Gona wait to see if a trial is released before buying. If the game is good, they will release a trial.

Thought MMO's never give trials in the first year, unless its going bad?

There's going to be a 30 day free trial when the game goes live. Like most MMOs these days.

Shame you missed out on the beta chris. That would have been your best bet at trialling it.

For those wanting to know more about the classes/roles join DC Raiders on Facebook cos they will be compiling all this real soon. There's already a guide up about Tanking. So you can know how to tank properly during missions in a group. Especially for raids. :)

I think we should be able to use the US servers tomorrow. Cos I used them for The Matrix Online when that was up a few years back. And even on the beta I was on the US servers. The EU servers they used during beta was for PS3 only. If Steam says it will be unlocked tomorrow, then tomorrow I will be online :D

I love my DC Comics. Being a big Superman fan (my sig actually reads CK61938 in Kryptonese), it was only natural I get this game. I am glad I tested it out in beta. Made the experience all the more better for it and really got me excited for it.

I have been bored out of my mind since the beta ended. So hopefully tomorrow night I will be locked in and forgot about Twitter, Facebook and other stuff haha. :D

When it comes to roles, you can choose to be a healer, tank or controller. Everyone is dps, regardless of roles. So you can be a dps/tank, dps/healer and dps/controller. Tank can have fire or ice based powers. Healers can have nature or sorcery based powers but I am unsure about controllers, all I know for them is they can regen you your powers.

Be sure yo know exactly what role you're going to be and learn it well. Best weapons I can recommend are as follows:

For close up/melee attacks: Staff, Double Handed Hammer, Dual Wield Swords.
For ranged attacks: Dual Wield Pistols, Bow, Rifle.

Those bad boys do some serious damage. Especially if you get the purple versions of each. In beta I had the purple of the staff, hammer and swords. The first two were able to give out 87.1 dps and the swords a staggering 97.6 dps. The other great about the staff was if you did the ranged attack it could hit upto 2000+ dps on someone like Doomsday. However, the devs found this out and reduced it big time. So now it does around 250-350dps.

Remember, as you level up and you pick up awesome loot for your character at that level, use them. When you do duos/alerts/raids, you'll certainly pick up new and powerful weapons and be sure to make sure they are for your role. So if you see a tank weapon, roll the dice for it. Same for healer and controllers. They will benefit you in the long run.

I am not sure if you guys will be able to read this but that's the guide our league leader has compiled on becoming a successful tank within the game. He is one of the best tanks out there so he knows what he's talking about. Hopefully we'll have more guides like for the healers and controllers.

Meanwhile, there is this other site I found the other night. It gives good insight on the powers within DCUO. It's not completed but it gives you an idea on what you can choose for your character.

Hope this helps guys. :D Less than 24hrs. I can hardly contain myself now :D
