***Official DC Universe Online Thread***

Regarding servers, wait a few weeks. Cos they are currently testing out a mega server. This means all servers will pretty much merge as one to combat the low population across all servers at present.

So it wont matter if you are on EU or US as both are showing low population. Also the thing with PvE and PvP is that when the servers merge, you can actually switch between PvE and PvP within the server itself instead of logging out and back in.

If you follow the link I posted above, download and install the public test server client and you will see what I mean :)

And I am guessing your request for a Superman embroided cape is for yourself and not for your character? If so, I honestly wouldn't know where to begin. Perhaps making your own might be a good idea :)

Cheers Dude,

So at the moment Server choice isnt an issue as they will eventually merge, that the bottom line? I originally chose a PvE server as wanted to learn the game before having randoms tear me a new one.

Superman for my character, sure i saw a screenshot of someone having the Superman Cape on their character? Assumed maybe a story arc or similar would have unlocked it?

Yeah, server choice won't be an issue. They will be merged regardless. But like I said, you can switch in the server between PvE and PvP as and when you please.

For the Superman cape, it's part of the Tier 2 armour to collect. That'll only come into play when you reach level 30 and you get stuck into 8-man raids or 4-man T2 hard alerts. These give you marks of distinctions. You need a certain amount to collect each part of the armour. So for the Superman cape, you need to get 40 marks of distinction. A typical 8-man raid will give you anything upto 13 marks of distinctions and the new 4-man hard alerts give upto 4 marks. And with more and more raids now on the server (4 in total so far) you can pretty much notch up a lot of marks in almost no time at all.

If you have a look on YouTube for videos, they will show you how to obtain said marks and other items after you hit level 30. :)

No free trials as yet, but plenty of gameplay vids on YouTube if you fancy a gander. I've posted a few myself. Just search "DC Universe Online CK61938" ;)

Servers have also been merged and now there's plenty of people online. I have been going on as early as 6pm and there's a ton of people online all eager to get some raids and hard alerts going. So you can guarantee you won't be too bored :D

We're also expecting the first DLC available very soon. I think the test server should be trialling it out soon. But still no word on that yet. The DLC is roughly $10 (I am guessing £10 over here or less). Can't argue with that I say :)

Still £20???

Surely it would be better to wait until it runs the course and goes F2P?

You'll be waiting a while. Since the server merge, there's plenty of people playing. And with the recent release of their first DLC, the place has been buzzing big time :D

We're hoping for new content in the next few weeks. I've been doing some major pvp the last week and despite the speed hackers (mainly on the villain side), I am having a blast.

Personally, since getting the lifetime sub, I am enjoying the game so much more. As I said, the new DLC and latest game update is making the game all the more enjoyable :)

Granted when Star Wars The Old Republic gets released, a lot of people will leave. But, I reckon give it say 2-3mths, many of them will be back. It happens across MMOs these days. So we'll see.

Okay I got stuck into this last week. Even if it goes F2P in the future I don't mind paying £20 for a game, well in essence £10 for the game and £10 for 30 days game time.

Rolled a villain on the EU PvP server and so far in the early levels I've seen about 3 or 4 other people :p might be best re-rolling PvE or even moving over to the US servers.

Combat is fun but I seem to have problems executing combos properly, which is probably entirely me needing to get used to it. Playing with a 360 pad as mouse and keyboard didn't feel right with the way this game is set up.

So far I would say the overall game play is fun but feels a little bit like a single player game. This could be due to numerous factors though such as: I'm still at the low level and lack of players on EU side. I'll probably sub for a month at least after the included month so I can get a feel for the end game but not sure it is something I can see myself playing long term.

I would definitely recommend re-rolling and going to the US servers. I can promise you that you'll see tons of users on at any given time of the day. Also, on the official DC Universe Online forums someone has actually posted a thread on a guide to powers, combos, mentors, weapons, etc. Install the file and get a good feel of what powers you can use and what combos/weapons work best for your toon. I forgot the name of it, but I will check when I get home tonight as I am at work and post it here. :)

Cool thanks for the advice :)

Do you know if it is possible to collect all the starter costume pieces throughout the game? I'm aiming to have my character start out looking a bit rubbish and then gradually look better as I level up.

Lol...that's pretty much what everyone does :) So yeah you can do that...and plenty of iconic gear to pick up along the way.

By the way here's the link to download the guide I was talking about. Very useful and helpful

So to actually play this game now u need to play on the US servers? im glad i didnt return to this game before reading this forum. Got 3 level 30's on the eu server which i managed in the free 30days when the game was released and it was hard enough getting raids/alerts back then! ill stick to lotro even though im bored of it. Shame really as this game has potential.

No I am not saying you have to be on the US server entirely. But you have more people to raid/alert with. I cannot really comment much on the EU server, but I would imagine it does have a big population, just nowhere what the US server have. Dont forget the servers have been merged, so whatever you had on EU will now be different. Just give it one more try and if it doesn't appeal to you, then by all means don't have to stick around :)

Me personally, I am pleased for the server merge cos now I can pvp like mad and no longer worry about long queues. In the last week alone I have done roughly 40hrs of pvp...yowzers  and to think I was never much for pvp to begin with lol.

So in other news...the game will now be FREE TO PLAY as of next month. I'm actually glad I paid the lifetime sub for this back in April as it seems you get more benefit than being a free to play user.
