***Official DC Universe Online Thread***

There is no AA in the game. I don't know why people are so bothered about AA. And yes you can turn off vsync in the game. When you get in just hit Esc and then Settings. And go from there.

As for power sets, I highly recommend searching for and then downloading and installing Ultimate DCUO Character Planner. This has all the powers, mentors, weapons and pretty much everything you need on what role you want to play on.

I have 6 characters and 4 of them are of each role: tank, controller, healer and dps. The tank is ice, controller is gadgets, healer is nature and dps is ice. All of them on hero side in pve. All level 30 and well geared.

So long as you know what role you plan on taking...get as many skill points as you can and be sure to spec into weapon trees that give you specific buffs/points for your role. Example my dps requires might and precision so I spec into weapons that give out lots of might and damage crit, the more of these, the higher the damage output. For tank you need dominance and defense. Controller vitalization and dominance and healer needs restoration. Keep those in mind, and you're sorted. :)

Also to add if you have this on Steam, do what I did, make the Launcher run its own instead of thru Steam. I only had to download 5.8GB updates and even then it stopped at 3.6GB and when I resumed it, it only downloaded 322MB. Been on ever since. Tho the queues are now going to be a problem :p

Bah, just realised my fire tank got a metric tonne of goodies in mail for the period just after hacking attacks. Guess I'll keep rolling with that especially that I could purchase house of el warsuit chest :>

What a Pain this game is. I create a character, get into the starting area and it just randomly crashes on me. No set point either, it's completely random. Up until the crash it runs just fine. Then, BOOM, blank screen and the system needs a hard-reboot.

It's back on Steam. Was a big splash add for it when I logged on now.

The game ok but I prefer COH over it (Seems better then Champions). The game seem very heavily biased towards melee.

Not surprising there was a barrage of issues last night. PVP was worst. Players were seen to be standing still but when they attacked you, you taking heavy damage. Even worse than that was, when you got KO'd the respawn time would start from as little as 10min to anything as ridiculous as 120min. People were having to close the game altogether. And to get back in, you had to log in as a different character (if you had more than one). For those who only had one character, it would get stuck on the loading screen until, as you say, you did a hard reboot of the PC.

But SOE have announced that they will be taking the servers down for maintenance today for an hour. So let's hope all the niggling issues get resolved and something else isn't broke.

Have to say tho, it was both good and bad to see all the worlds full of players. Good cos it meant people had others to level up with and join in missions that were otherwise difficult to do solo (hey it happens lol). Bad cos you're inundated with noob questions like: "how do I get to Gotham from Metropolis?" or "where do I check my mail?". The latter I had a full on argument with some doofus who kept saying you couldn't check your mail in Watchtower and only in the police stations (for heroes). I was like, yes you can check it in the Watchtower underneath the main wing bridge. Grrr lol.

Other than that, I think once all the bugs are ironed out, people should start to see smoothness and such and hopefully enjoy the game better.

Some of the skills seemed a bit odd to me. First created a bow/nature char and kept getting melee skills. My basic tatcic seemed to be hover over mob while spamming right mouse button. Not vey exciting or involved. So, I then created a mind/mace guy and that seemed much more fun with the melee attacks and a few ranged.

Solo you need melee, but in groups is where i found ranged really grows. If you want to range i suggest kiting.

If you want to do some serious fast melee damage, might I recommend dual wield. If you are an ice dps, this seriously works in your favour, I promise you ;) Same can be said for fire dps. But in the end it's entirely down to player preference so I am just giving you my versions. I am in the process of levelling up a fire dps to see how it compares with the ice dps I already have.

For nature healers (I have one myself), bow is recommended. Yes, it might seem a pain to keep hitting the right mouse button, but believe me, you are from a distance and are less susceptible(sp) to extensive damage. Just watch for any enemies that might come for you. But being at a distance you have safe knowledge you can heal without dying so quickly. Also with nature healers, be sure to switch to bug form for maximum healing power. Also to add, rifle is another really good weapon to use. For any role.

The bow/nature hero gone to the place where deleted heroes go :) Skill set up didn't look good, too many melee attacks for what meant to be a range class and I don't like shape shifting.

Might try a sorcery/hand blasters or dual wield instead. Pets are generally ok, assuming they work. I have fund memory of my pet class in WAR. I sent my lion into attack and it ran off in the opposite direction until it despawned!!

Gave my villian the mace since it had great comedy value on such a small char! :p

Great post, thanks. Played this until lvl 5 last night as fire/staff villian but may have a look at a few other roles before going any further. Only problem I had was getting ganked lots by higher levels, but thats the price you pay for being on a PvP server!
