*** Official DCS World Thread ***

Bought mine during the kickstarter - I have to say the little touches really make the MiG-21 module - it really has set the bar very high for other Module makers, ED included.

Fixed that for you mate ;)

Lol , its funny cos its true

I would love to see their sales figures Vs Days

There would be an initial rush of pre order ..... then when released another rush for several days .....
then it drops off a cliff

Prices drop and people who would not pay full price then buy it

The MiG-21, in all of its variants, has fought in wars stretching all the way from the Vietnam War of the 1960's to the modern day Syrian Civil War. Owing to its unique blend of versatility, ruggedness and maintainability, the MiG-21 remains in active service to this very day.

Leatherneck Simulations' recreation of the MiG-21bis is, by far, the most accurate and comprehensive simulation of this supersonic jet fighter to date. The fully simulated systems, interactive cockpit, advanced flight modeling and incredible graphical fidelity come together to create a package that will provide you with the most authentic simulation possible. So strap in, and get ready to experience the rebirth of a legend.
Key Features of the DCS: MiG-21bis by Leatherneck Simulations:

Dear all,

We deeply apologize about the problems you are encountering with the new update; it certainly should not have been released in its current state. We did however learn a few valuable lessons that will benefit future releases and our staff is hard a work on a solution.

On a very positive note, we would like to congratulate Leatherneck Simulations on the release of MiG-21bis. We are proud to have them as a partner and we look forward working with them on many more projects!

Sincerely,
Matt and the Eagle Dynamics Team

Yep it looks like the usual high level of care and attention was once again used to test this update before unleashing it upon an unsuspecting public ....

That Bug has been fixed and will be pushed out soon. What happens is the player is assigned to a flight if the AI skill is set to Random.

DCS.exe picks up the "Random" setting as the "Player" setting erroneously.

Nate/Lurkio

Can I pick your brain with newbie questions. I finally got a trackir and an x55 sorted and have the majority of the keys mapped. As I move through the various training missions with varying degrees of success I want to confirm I have the correct settings.

During the training sessions when the autopilot is disengaged the aircraft goes into a pronounced climb with no stick movement. Is this normal behaviour? I am having to push forward on the stick to maintain level flight. Should I use the trim to level things out or is there an issue with my set up that is pulling the nose upwards?

Does that make the F-15 the best starter aircraft in FC3?

I was going to start with the SU-27 but as trimming has been the bane of my life in all flight sims a jet the F-15 may be a better choice.

A-10C, also if i bring up the control monitor with CTRL Enter I have a visual representation of rudder, throttle and stick input. Everything seems normal bar but there is a definite nose up behaviour which forces the plane into gaining altitude.

You trim for a specific AoA, therefore when your AoA changes due to a change in airspeed or weight you'll need to adjust trim to maintain hands off level flight. If you don't re-trim the aircraft will change pitch "looking" for its stable AoA (and therefore speed).

Read up on how trim/aerodynamics work and it'll all become clear.

The F-15 takes care of the trim for most speeds. That said trim becomes natural after a while.

If your Joystick has a hat, map the trim to that. You can also have the hat only trim when another button is pressed. For Example you can have the hat move the view about, but if you hold CTRL and move the hat it will adjust your trim.

ccip - dive bomb, get close to you enemy, works well with unguided bombs, but you're risking it aginst short range air defences (continuously calculated impact point)

ccrp- stay high up, lock onto you target preferably but not necessarily with video pod and drop laser or sat nav guided bomb (can be dumb bomb but accuracy will be poor due to range and wind). The enemy will not even see you (unless it has long range radar like BUK). (continuously calculated release point)

A little more than 25 words but that makes a lot of sense :D.

Things are slowly coming together. Need to go through the training missions again a few times before I might have a look at the campaign
