I found some additional button options for left and right wheel brakes in the non-axis menu. These work reasonably well but its still very strange behaviour. If Im taxing and I press the left wheel brake, the plane turns to the left - ok. But then when I release the button the plane continues to turn to the left - it doesn't straighten up. I then have to use right brake to get it to straighten up which then overshoots the other way.

The rudder control for the taxi-ing steering doesn't seem to work at all, i have the option selected but it doesn't do anything.

Im also really struggling with takeoff and landing. The plane just doesn't fly in a straight line. It seems to skew in one direction and then I finding it very difficult to keep the runway lined up. Is this the wind blowing me?

I've watched those.

He has rudder pedals so is setting his wheel brakes on those. It doesn't explain how to set up brakes with no rudder pedals.

I've set up everything else ok it's the braking/ground steering I'm struggling with.

I have a pinky trigger/axis on my stick I always set to brake then steer with the pedals, some aircraft you have a switch to turn on/off nose wheel steering but it's worked on any plane I;ve tried

Had another play and still can't get it to work well.

I seem to have the option in the controls of either axis control for wheel brakes or button control.

If I had pedals then each brake would get its own axis. I can't do that because I don't have pedals so I don't have enough axis free.

So I could set a single axis to control both brakes together. I have a pinky wheel on the throttle, or a rudder type axis on the throttle, or a slider on the stick I could for this? Then I get linear instead of on/off brake control but I still can't steer properly.

The rudder control option isn't working for me and I can't see any option for nosewheel steering?

If nose wheel steering isn't explicitly mentioned it usually linked to the rudder axis.
Just pop it on whatever axis you have spare or if you'd prefer a button assign it to "wheel brake on else off", the later is for the A4 which I think is what you said you'd be learning.

The A4E is a pain to taxi due its old school braking system, it does not have nose wheel steering. Have you tried setting rudder to axis and then Wheel brake left & right wheel brake to buttons?

This guys explains it well

Have to ask and I've not tried the A4E Scooter in DCS yet, you say it has no nose wheel steering and I believe you, but your video ytube clip photo shows the Aircraft nose wheel steering to the left, does it castor? hard to imagine ... I thought only tail draggers could castor?

I mean it has no nose wheel steering button & steer with rudder like modern planes, to steer it you have to use differential braking.

something weird happened with the patch today, steam kept failing the update so i uninstalled and reinstalled, took days to install last time when i built my PC, this time on 1gb fibre, installed the whole thing in 35 mins 240+gb.

Only thing was i forgot to back up my settings cause i was hacked off and not thinking straight :(

Took an F18 over to check put London. getting low on fuel thought I'd drop into Heathrow and refuel........ Think someone stole all the tarmac.........lol

Learning the F18 and loving the slam-er missile.
Not sure how good it is vs using a MAV but it's fun to guide into the target.

I think SLAMer has a much longer range than the mavericks. But yeah, its a cool weapon and a cool minigame within DCS. The latter is the same with air to air refueling :)

Mig 17 has been announced, F15 Strike Eagle and F4 phantom close! Hopefully we will see a Vietnam map as well.
