Wow. Didn't realise this was Eidos Montreal's first game as a studio!
My partner got given a copy of this on the Xbox as an "incentive prize" looks quite good might need to pickup a copy for my pc!
Meant to be best on PC also![]()
one thing that is ****ing me off is the console port controls.
the menu for mouse sensitivity two separate options for x and y (met for joysticks) but both load up with a silly animation and can't be viewed simultaneously.
so i'm sat there tying to up the sensitivity having to count each bar of the silly graph so i can keep them both the same.

ive been gaming for about 25 years..
it started as
EXPerience
then got shortened to EXP
further shortened to XP
they are not "points" , it is simply "experience"
even microsoft managed to get it right with windows "xp" standing for eXPerience
Fun fact: for proper 1:1 mouse controls, you don't want them the same. There's currently a bug causing x axis to be a lot more sensitive than y axis. I personally have x at 1 block and y at 3 blocks. Some people swear the optimal is so that y is +2 compared to x, while others think that the optimal y is double the x value.
Shame they did console port controls for that, when it's not a portLol
no it is a port.
it's a good game but it's certainly designed for the consoles first, you could even tell that in the preview build.
In an exclusive interview with GameSpy, PC gamers are reassured that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a ‘game designed on PC for consoles and ported back to PC’ like so many other games that have come out this generation.
Julien Bouvrais, director of technology at Eidos-Montreal stated in the interview that…
"Obviously, while console versions of the game were part of the picture, PC was also a big focus. It was simply out of the question to do a straight port of the console version to PC, while being able to keep the essence of the adventure we experienced seven years before. With this in mind, we started exploring ways to best create the whole Deus Ex: Human Revolution project -- console and PC."
Just because Bill called it that doesn't mean that xp in general stands solely for experience.
Show me some proof that XP stands only for experience other than using winxp as an example.
Not that it really matters though, since I'm arguing over something trivial![]()
REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 5, 2001 — Microsoft Corp. announced product names today for the upcoming new Microsoft® Windows® desktop operating system and Microsoft Office desktop applications suite. Windows (formerly code-named "Whistler" ) will become Windows XP, and Office (formerly code-named "Office 10" ) will become Office XP. The XP name is short for "experience," symbolizing the rich and extended user experiences Windows and Office can offer by embracing Web services that span a broad range of devices.

Does this game need to steam to run sorry for idiotic question.

Green man gaming has Deus EX as "pre-order". I assume it will still provide me with a key so I can pre-load?
.... Go look through the thread, and see why we are discussing Steam activation
Yep, they should give you a code you can use with Steam once your purchase is complete.
